I've finally managed to get into Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, on my third attempt. A couple of friends promised me it was worth persevering with, and so far they've been right.
Have just finished The Big Short - the doomsday machine, about the players that were involved in the sub prime fiasco which led to the credit crunch. Brilliant read - good pace and really well explained.
Now reading Plea of Insanity by Jillian Hoffman, good so far but have only just started.
Also read a couple of Paul Kilduff novels - he usually wries thrillers about he financial world which I really enjoy too.
Just finished Amsterdam by Ian McEwan, I think on balance I am underwhelmed, it's not as good as others I've read by him, some passages were really well written, but overall I don't think it achieved what it wanted to.
Also the premise is probably a little dated.
Starting In Cold Blood next by Truman Capote, sitting on my shelf for near 2 years now

Agree with you about Amsterdam .. the good news is you've got In Cold Blood to come .. one of the best books I've ever read. A powerful examination of criminality and its effect on the perpetrators and the community at large
The Stand - Stephen King
Frankie Boyle's book
Fight Club
any recs?
Cheers
Well of those 3 I've only read the King and that comes highly recommended. But Frankie's book would probably be a quick read before moving on to the more meaty stuff.
I've just finished reading American Star - Jackie Collins. Amazing. I read Poor Little Bitch Girl a few weeks ago and American Star was my fourth Jackie novel and I can't get enough. I've got seven more of her books in my to read pile before buying more of hers.

@twingle - I am saving Hornets Nest, having really enjoyed the other two, not sure I'm ready to get to the end!
Just started The Darkest evening of the year. Should rattle through that in a couple of days.
Just finished Misspent Youth by him and that was a good book.
Pandora's Star.........hmmmmm? Certainly take a long time to get going.

A Hutsonesque horror novel.

Mrs. Bleads is reading that..she's really struggling as it's for work and not really her thing at all.
I love Steve Martini's books! I have his latest waiting on my shelf.
The Stand, definitely. I assume you have the uncut version, if not STOP. Buy the uncut version (I think thats all you can get now anyway )
My copy of The Passage is on the way, really looking forward to that one although some reviews have not been as good as all the hype!
