Now here's something odd. As I don't have all the channels connected the Panasonic through the Box. Signal quality then poor. Put the aeriel straight into Panasonic signal quality poor. Moved the box from shelf underneath the Panasonic. PQ back to normal. Put it back with the only lead to it being the mains. PQ down again. Turned off the Box completely PQ normal again. How can the Box be interfering with the signal when it is only connected to the mains? Move it 6 inches away no problem.:(
What's going on?
Try laying a length of alli kitchen foil round the box to see if the interference stops.
The number of problems reported for the relatively small number of boxes delivered is worrying,Surely the boxes are given a detailed quality control check at the factory? or are they being rushed out because of delays?
I've just set a series record up for Ultimate Big Brother - first run only and it has set up recordings for the evening programmes PLUS the morning repeats.
That's wrong isn't it?
It's also missed some programmes it should have recorded.
Making some progress. Plugged it in to standard tv in another room which happens to have a different roof arial (don't ask). Scanned from scratch found 79 channels including the 3 D channels. They are able to play on this tv. Back to HD tv channels there but no signal. Must be the arial that's the problem.
Interested to hear that others have only found 76 channels. I am on Sutton Coldfield and both Panasonic and set top box (cheapo one) find 98 usually although the arial which picks up HD loses some channels when it is raining.
Tried to register but not recognising my details. Phoned 3View and they said tech will phone me back.

I'm on Sutton Coldfield, from Tamworth and find 105 channels.
Remember your HD is coming from Lichfield, I get great reception but they are on reduced power
I'm intrigued to know why you unplug it at night. Isn't there a danger you'll miss a scheduled recording?
How are you doing a hard reset? I've never had to do anything on the odd occasion I've turned mine off at the wall. It's just rebooted and got on with doing what it does.
when I lent it to my Father in law, he told me he unplugged it and had to do a channel rescan next day... I thought it was odd, so i tried it and had to do a hard reset, or rescue... you do this my pressing standby button on the box whilst plugging in mains and keep holding standby button for 10 secs total... it then goes into rescue mode whereby you have to down load the sw again and it resets itself back to the begiining..
I don't unplug normally, I just couldn't understand why the box lost everything during the night.
I have two friends who also have this box... we were all getting different types of faults... from freezing/lock ups/channel loss etc, but mine is the only one that does this trick!
Having said that, latest software download on Friday(v 32814) has cured all my tuner issues...
Enough is enough....... I'm going back to trusty old Humax.
This box is a pile of rubbish!
I've lost count of the number of reboots/retunes/updates I have done since it arrived this morning. It is in a permanent state of crashing.
Have I been unlucky?
Probably of no help to you, but I've had my pre-production box for (goes off to check...) three months now (goes off to re-check!) and I've had a very different experience. There have been issues, I've just recently noticed that the EPG for the coming few days has some corrupttion (is that something to do with a change in the way it's being broadcast: I think I saw something about one of the other boxes having problems) and I've had some 'No signal ' messages when I've played around with trick play while recording(s) have been under way but, on the whole, the box has worked and worked well. I've certainly not had the multiple and repeated issues that you've had: I've got a whole bunch of single and series timers set to record and a couple of dozen or so HD and SD recordings, some of which I've actually found time to watch today in the space freed up by DHL's inability to deliver on time!
I can only imagine that, yes, you've been 'unlucky', though luck shouldn't be a factor.
It's also missed some programmes it should have recorded.
Go to 'setup', 'PVR Event Viewer' and press 'info' to cycle through 'All Events', 'Recordings', 'Deletions' to get to 'Unexpected Events'. You might find an answer/clue in there.
I don't get ITV4 at the moment, I was hoping the HD channels were on a different mux.
If you don't get ITV4, then you are likely to be missing muxD on UHF channel 55. If you are missing testerday (ch 12) or film4 (ch15) then most definitely muxD is missing.
The various channels that occupy each mux are listed in the link, Sutton Coldfield is a pre-DSO transmitter (until next Sept), so look at the lists under Pre-DSO Network
The HD channels currently broadcast on a separate HD mux - UHF channel 34 for Sutton Coldfield. It is a low-power mux (half that of most of the other muxes), but will have its power increased at DSO next year, If you struggle to get muxD with that aerial and cabling, you'll probably also struggle to get the HD mux.

Ah, I had wondered which 'version' of reset you meant as that one isn't immediately apparent.

I'm beginning to wonder if today's collection of glitches is somehow connected with aerials/transmitters/signal strengths. Just an idle theory, and at least no-one's seen any targeted ads yet despite that particular conspiracy theory being pushed long and hard!
Having said that, latest software download on Friday(v 32814) has cured all my tuner issues...
Doesn't help with my thoughts above but it's good news.
The firmware you have installed appears to be that which we were asked to download from a specified URL and then transfer to the box using a USB stick. It recently re-surfaced as a network download direct to the box
It may be helpful to note that the '32814' part of the firmware name may well be repeated: that part has in the past, as have '10001' and '10002' in another section of the name. For that reason it might be useful if anyone quoting firmware numbers either quotes the last 12 digits, which amount to a time stamp (201008261421 in this case), or the full name (3viewT2 32814-10001 201008261421).
It is. It's never happened to me when I've turned it off to change the socket it uses (or when Management tripped the circuit breaker!).

Can't help you there as it's not something I've experienced.

On my unit I have two network downloads with exactly the same name and numbers. What is the latest?
(full name/number please!) Just so I can make sure that my unit is up to date and has the latest.
Well after much playing I'm disappointed to post that I'm thinking my box must be faulty. I found 98 channels (Winter Hill) ok, but quite a few channels come up with zero on the signal bar (i.e. channels 1 to 9). Despite this I do get a picture of sorts, although its blocky with motion artefacts. However if I switch to my TV (which is fed via the 3View box on loop through) and compare say BBC1, the picture is perfect and the signal is reported as 95-98% strength with no errors. Any thoughts?
I applied the latest software as instructed and it rebooted the box, but I still see the same update listed twice in the network setup option even though I already applied it. Is that normal?

Thanks, oh and enjoy your box!
Scanning from "keep and scan". What is a MUX?

Thanks. Now found 99. This was after a number of scans throughout the day. Sonofveritas may want to try again
