Father Jack from Father Ted to join Emmerdale (Spoilers)

Declan Macey is becoming properly settled in at Home Farm with the arrival of his ex-wife Ella, played by former Doctors star Corrine Wicks, daughter Mia (Brittania High’s Sapphire Elia) and dad in the shape of Father Ted’s Father Jack, Frank Kelly, as Dermot. He couldn’t be more different than the hard-drinking, hard-swearing cleric and sounds like he has a fractious relationship with his son, and thinks nothing of spending his money like water. And might he have his eye on Pearl…?

I loved Father Jack! Although obviously we won't be getting his constant cursings throughout the episodes, and also cause it says his Emmerdale character is different to that of his Father Ted character. Frank is a great actor too. I'm happy about this news.

What do other people think?

    Ha ha :D. I love that line too. It would be gas if Emmerdale made him say that casually as one of his lines :D

    Three great new signings for Emmerdale. Frank Kelly and Corrinne Wicks are fantastic, and Sapphire Elia is a far better actress than her former BH colleague Sophie Powles it has to be said.

    I'm glad Declan is going to become a more prominent figure in the show, let's hope this keeps Jason Merrells from quitting too soon like the Wyldes.

    Ok - just remember that Frank Kelly is *completely* and *utterly* different from Father Jack in real life. In interviews he's hardly recognisable from the character.

    He's actually quite a posh guy.

    Frank Kelly is great! They always felt guilty on Father Ted just giving him the 'Drink! ****!' lines seeing as he's a talented actor but he didn't mind.

    Has anyone heard his version of 'The 12 Days Of Christmas' ?

    It is basically him playing the part of a man living with his elderly mother and how they are driven mad but a well meaning lady friend, Nola, who sends him all the gifts in the story.

    You should find it if you Google.

    Emmerdale needs a dynasty that will still be there in 20 years time, not yet another family that will be gone within a couple of years.

    We all know they will be gone within 2 years... get unknown actors!
