My car is going in for it's MOT next week and my rear washer jets have stopped working. The rear wiper works fine, and so do the front wipers and front washers. Will it fail the MOT is the rear washer jets don't work?
When you try to switch on the washer, can you hear the pump going? If so, it might just be a blocked jet. Take a needle, and poke about in the hole. It could be as easy as that.

It's a blacked pump in the tank, just haven't got around to fixing it yet. If it needs doing now I'll get it done though!

I spent an afternoon the other weekend trying to unblock mine, turned out the hose had come off the pump
Mine passed several MOTs with broken jets, though when I (well, ok my Dad and my boyfriend) finally got round to fixing it, the pipe had split with mine too. All those hours spent shoving a pin into the jet wasted :-(
I thought IF you had a rear wiper (a good few cars don't) then the rubber has to be decent.
Bit like the way you don't need a spare tyre to pass an MOT, but if you have one, it must be road-worthy or it's a fail.
Actually, re-reading this I should qualify the second statement as well.
Defective spare tyres aren't a reason for rejection, it's only an advisory.
It depends were you live in the U.K,in N.I all the tyres must be in perfect condition or the car will fail and a retest will be needed as there are no advisories given in N.I. If the tyres are in a dangerous condition then the car could be impounded.

They only test the road wheels on the mainland now, I believe they changed the regs to cope with the increasing use of space saver spares, which would instantly fail because they are of mismatched size and restricted speed.
Does that mean you can present a car for testing in NI with a space saver fitted?

That's what I thought, although I've been told that I you have a particular safety feature it must work. Not true, it seems.
I always assumed that too. If a piece of equipment was fitted, it must function. Not including stereos etc lol
Thats from my testing centre

Nope, it's not included in the test.
Exactly, what you wrote.
