So now Facebook automatically adds you to groups you're invited to?

A friend created a group and "added" me to it. I am now a member it seems and I get the updates for it. I never clicked to accept anything.
In the update on the group it says "XXX added XXX, XXX and 13 more members to the group".
What?
The person who created it is really excited that 75 people joined within a few minutes, but I imagine none of them joined at all and were just added.
Anyone else seen this?

It appears on the left under the homepage too.
After I was invited, I went to Facebook (I never knew I has been invited) and the first page it came to was the group page instead of the usual one.
I am all for progression but Facebook seem to have a team of people who sit there all day and change anything they want. I thought the tiny text thing was a fault but it seems it's meant to be this way.
worry as i don't join groups/download apps for this very reason!
I only add actual friends but unfortunately not everyone does that!
But now you seemingly have no choice. If you're invited to a group, you're added to it.
I just realised how bad this is for friendships. If I now leave this group it's going to be visible that I left it, because I am no longer in it with a small amount of people. In the past I'd just ignore the request. Now I have to let them know I don't want to be part of it.
I get what you mean though, it's a bloody cheek!
Yes, and I'd assume (or hope) there's a way not to be automatically accepted, but it's annoying how they turn it on without anyone knowing. Talk about privacy concerns again. I'm not that fussed, but what if someone invited you to a dodgy group? "I am a paedophile" could appear in my "groups" for example.
I'm in 2 minds whether or not to sack of FB tbh, they just seem to irritate the bloody life out of me with stupid bloody changes like this one. I'm now going to trawl through the settings to see if there's any way to switch half of this auto crap off.
Arrrghhh...as if bloody Farmville updates weren't enough
For me Facebook is a necessary evil, but it's starting to wind me up with all these unannounced changes. Like I said previously, my profile was made available for anyone to view without my consent. Prior to that I set everything bar searching for me and adding me as a friend to "Friends only".
Fortunately it was one I am happy to be added to but it shouldn't be allowed - anybody could add your name to any dodgy thing and you wouldn't even know
Well you can at least get it to email you if you are added to a group - at least that way you can quickly de-add if you want.
That's not the issue. That is simple. The fact is that if you're invited you're added... I could go on holiday for a week and not have access to the internet, and someone could invite me to a group which I really don't want to be part of "I hate all black people", for example. That wouldn't be too nice.
Yes you can.
But that is no good if you don't go online for a couple of weeks and in the meantime some random adds you to some porno bloody percy filth group and all your "friends" wonder what's gotten into you.
