Just thought I'd add how thrilled I am by this news! I love the character and was very sad when they said she was leaving because Stacey is too. It's funny, I was talking to my colleague about it on Monday! We both agreed she should stay!! So, so pleased!!
As long as Stacey the annoying is gone, that's the main thing. Kill her off just to make sure, kill off Kat and Ronnie too. In fact, kill of the whole crappy cast.

Totally agree with those saying Jean is the only replacement for Dot when June Brown leaves. No character is more able to take on the angst that has become Dot's signature more than Jean. I hope Gillian is still with the show come another 20 years.
To echo the comments of other forum members, this is excellent news! Jean and Stacey are brilliant together, but I think Jean as a stand alone character really will shine. Be interesting to see how they fit her in with Stacey's departure, but I have no doubt it will be good.
Jean's such a scene stealer, and Gillian Wright always manages to bring humour and sadness to her. I love her jittery bodylanguage. Great news that she's staying.

I actually had a feeling in my waters that Jean would be back.
I think the producers have seen that actually Jean can work well enough with Mo and Kat for her to remain on.
Also, if Jean had gone - it would be harder for them to bring back Sean and Stacey in the future should they want to...
She does my nut in and is so boring.
