Hi all,
Being a little lazy, but thought I'd ask the question anyway
Looking to buying my dad a blu ray player for Christmas and wondered if there were any bargins I should be aware of.
Ideally anything with a free disc(s) would be an added extra
Budget: less than £100
Thanks in advance
Tom

If region free is of importance then the supermarket players while being a poorer build quality offer a cheap and easy route to multiregion dvd and bluray.
If you can find the Curtis,Tevion or Limit models the hack is easily obtained on the net
The deal can be found on many sites, but some sites are asking £150 to £178 for the same player. You can still get the deal at Lasky's and many other sites for £125
By the way it upscales DVD's and it does a great job, it also plays avi's from a USB stick or disk, you can also watch "you tube" and other news channels etc if you plug in to your router. I love it.
BUT BEFORE YOU PLACE YOUR ORDER CHECK STOCK ! phone em

Download the form for the 6 dvd's at most sites.

Also, while offering SACD playback, it doesn't offer multi-channel DVD-A(udio) playback (not to be confused with DDx.1/DTS True-HD)
But still a great deal, especially if you have hdmi input on your AV amp/receiver.
I don't see why HDMI would be an advantage?, optical or coaxial digital would work just as well.
The more expensive Sony players (470, 570 and 770) don't even have the eight analogue outputs. I think the older 760 did and it was available at play.com for £100 recently but has now gone back up to £290. Bother!
But I think the 370 will be a good buy for £100.

As you are a dealer , are you really telling us that you were not aware that the HD Audio formats are unavailable via regular digital outputs?
I expect the seller could have got a better price had he known that the player is one of the few that are remote hackable for Bluray discs aswell as dvd which is something that is quite pricey on the well known branded players.
