Nigel. I'm intrigued to know how they are going to implement this. I bought one of their cheap ITD68 boxes when I took out the subscription. Surely this has not got CI+?
BUT: Could they do an OTA software change to the Sagem box??? Unless they can I don't see what they could do to keep my Sagem box working but kill the CAM in my Humax 9200.
In the event it probably mattereth not! I've put the card back in the Sagem box because I found that when I was recording two things, I couldn't watch SSports - normally I don't need to watch one of these odd muxes, what I'm watching live (rare) is usually on a mux, which I'm recording!
Embedded encryption means there's no CI slot; it may be that the Matsui simply hasn't got the oomph (or the people to write firmware) to update it to the latest version of the Nagra system (and whatever may be added later).
Nagra Merlin uses hidden algorithms so i suppose it is possible to link it to advanced hardware. Ive always foud it strange that the CA libarys in the TUTV DTR's hasnt changed their still using the Nagra France (MediaGuard SECAII) libs from 2005/2006 (G1 THOMSON anyway) despite the card swap in 2008. Its a shame CI+ isnt backwards compatible with CI televisions (or is it?) as a cam would be ideal fo my setup. Still TUTV now has a HD STB so hopefully a HD PVR is not far off
I've had a Luxor box for three years still going strong and as it doesn't have a fan it's quite i havn't been with TUTVA for two years now,box works fine on Freeview channels.
The six PIDs attached to SS1/2 have now been transferred to the former Community Channel service on Mux B. That is operating as a hidden channel since it has no service name nor LCN. There is only data flowing on two of the six streams. Perhaps $ky objected to having other folks data attached to its property? I have no sight of Arq B, so I cannot see what is going on there. I presume six streams would be enough for ESPN as well as a replacement for Anytime 2's TUTV data channel (which is back as a hidden channel on Mux A)?
I've just discovered that Sky Sports has now stopped working via a CAM. Still works for ESPN though. I am a BT Vision customer, but don't know whether it will be the same for Top-Up TV subscribers.

Not just via a CAM, my Vision card no longer works in my freeview boxes with a card slot, ESPN still works, oh how I love Sky
Mike can you confirm if anythings changed in te BT Vision > settings > general Settings > system info > Card info?
anything in there to sugegst an exclusive pairing with the box?
On the BT Vision forums the mods have advised that there has been a software update relating to the contract between BT and Sky. Seems to confirm that Sky have insisted on viewing cards being paired with specific boxes. Hacks me off as it previously allowed me the flexibility of watching the sport on my kitchen tv when the wife or kids have commandeered the main tv.
Curious. Mine is still working in the little TU Sagem box and in a CAM in a 9200. I do have them switched off unless they are in use - it could be that some "update" hasn't had chance to work yet.
Poolie: Quite, I used to be able to use a little TV in the conservatory - not that I shall be in there again for quite some time with this weather!
It's not pairing, as far as I'm aware, and no one I've spoken with at TUTV and other places has suggested pairing.
What they have said is that it will be via embedded encryption only, and it's likely that they're now using elements of the encryption system that simply aren't available in the CAMs and in some of the older boxes.
To be able to use pairing, they would need to be absolutely sure that they knew the serial number or other IDs for every customer's equipment.
On 13 December 2010 Ofcom concluded its assessment of Top Up TV's complaint, issuing a decision to give a direction to Sky in respect of compliance with Condition 14A of each of the Television Licensable Content Service licenses for Sky Sports 1 and Sky Sports 2. The direction states that a term of Sky's agreement for the wholesale supply of Sky Sports 1 and Sky Sports 2 to TUTV, restricting provision of the channels via CI+ CAMs, is in breach of Condition 14A and requires that term to be removed.

Does anyone know if the Humax 9300t has a CI+ slot, and does this announcement mean I would just be able to use my CAM slot in my 9300T without the need for a new box, what Humax box could I get if I wanted to use a CAM to get the channels?

All the TUTV PVRs have card slots
CI = ??
CI+ is a revised version of that, which improves on security, amongst other things.
Oh dear
Does anyone have a definitive list of acceptable boxes that we can use? The picture on the Thomson refurb box provided is dreadful.

And on the right hand side a list of other compatible units
Cheers for that
Any recommendations? I've never heard of half of these brands
To be honest, i only have used and own the G1 Thompson box, im sure however someone might point you in the right direction.
Does that suggest paired boxes or not?
Neither, I just didn't want to start a new thread.

Or is it some sort of automatic process within the box upon receipt of some suitable signal?
Ofcom have found Sky guilty of as usual
