When i was a teenager and worked in the City for a Stock Brokers, one of the directors of the firm used to live permanently in a suite at the Savoy!...... presumably they have a few people that do that!, but i haven't heard mention of this and what those people had to do in the 3 years its been closed?.......
I believe that Richard Harris lived at the Savoy, too.
I saw photos of the hotel after it was opened, I wasn't impressed at all.
No doubt everything is very expensive and top quality, but there are so many different styles/colours/patterns everywhere that I really didn't like it.

They took all the character out.
I'd rather stay in the Savoy than any of the Four in a Bed B&B's
In our teens in the late fifties before moving down to the clubs and coffee bars of Soho on a Saturday night, we used to frequent the American Bar at the Dorchester for a drink (one!)
It was never busy. Despite our ages, 17/18, being reasonably respectably dressed, our presence went unnoticed.
That`s where people `sit` and look around at how clean the BR is, we always were instructed to clean the ceilings in the Hotel rooms as thats the bit most people look at :D
Because he said it was to have the same eye level that the customers sitting on the loo have and to make sure it had all been cleaned properly.......;)

I've been to St. Pierre Park Hotel in Guernsey a few times with works conferences.
Not quite the same scale I know....
What was the point of that bit??
That`s our poshest hotel now, the Fantastic Royal burnt down and was replaced by an office block..:(
Oh I have fond memories of that hotel
Debris/ anything unsightly.
So they could spot anything out of place, from the guests perspective.
I once stayed at the Premier Inn, Torquay, and ate at their posh Beefeater.

As a butler you get to see the view that the customer see's rather than what the house staff just walking in and wiping down sees etc
Sean would drive me up the wall!
"Kneel"
