How NOT to write an article - Ashley's Christmas card to Biffa
Headline:
Cheryl Cole 'breaks down over Ashley card'.
First line:
Cheryl Cole has reportedly been reduced to tears after receiving a Christmas card from ex-husband Ashley.
Towards the end:
A source told The Sun: "Cheryl felt quite choked up at being sent the card. After all that has happened between them, she thought it was a nice gesture".
Had the piece been a little longer, we'd have probably got down to "wondered why he bothered as she tossed it in the bin".

You've got to laugh at the depths to which the abs would go to feature Cheryl. God help them if Cheryl does move to the states. Altho we'll be hearing about Cheryl landing movie roles; and has everyone in love with her in the states. lol.
I wonder if it will be reported that Cheryl will be in Glee. I saw a fox executive loitering outside her hose.
I have my doubts about it being the biggest selling paper.
Oh right, I must've misread that.
But the sun doesn't care, if there's nothing about Cheryl they'll made up something about Cheryl.
Say what?
That's how rumours start
Haha Mr. Paparazzi reported this story thusly: "Even we don't believe this Cheryl Cole story" - "And we believe any old shit." http://www.mrpaparazzi.com/post/13649/Even-we-dont-believe-this-Cheryl-Cole-story.aspx
Funny with all their 'inside sources' nobody seems to know Derek's in London, and has been for 11 days.
The Sun has been looking foolish for a while. They published photos of what they incorrectly claimed was Cheryl's Judges' House, weeks after The Mirror revealed the correct location. The Sun claimed Derek was going to take Cheryl on a romantic holiday to Catalina Island, which was thousands of miles from their actual destination,Tanzania. The Sun repeatedly claimed Derek had signed a "lucrative contract" to appear on SCD. He said nobody even approached him about it. Yet I haven't seen anyone calling them to task over their bad reporting.
I don't know why anybody would put any stock in what the Sun writes except where they're quoting other media outlets, such as TMZ or the BBC. Few of their articles have any depth. The Daily Mail does a far better job of researching and reporting in detail, with commendable accuracy in the articles I've looked at the most closely.
Gordon Smart toots the Sun's horn by giving out "Bizarre" awards, but for me their reporting IS often simply "Bizarre."
Great point that men don't send Christmas cards! Very few do, imo.
I checked, and there is no prohibition against sending diamonds or any kind of jewelry through the mail in the U.S. The United States Post Office has a website, www.usps.com, detailing restricted items here (mostly due to aviation security), but jewelry is not listed.
But Derek's in London anyway, so the point is moot.
Will is supposed to throw her a party in LA with 200 'semi-naked' dancers. "A lady doesn't talk about things like that" (who she is dating), but a "lady" will gladly have 200 semi-naked dancers writhing around her? It's too funny.
Perhaps because Cheryl said this week that she was single. So, Derek is no more interesting for them.
The Sun was and always will be a pathetic and desperate newspaper/tabloid. I mean, they're pro Conservative for goodness sake
