It's that one by Shane Magowan (plastic paddy) and Kirsty McColl.
The fairy tale of New York.
Horrible, over-rated dirge.

Agree, but the turds offered up by Cliff Richard over the years have been far worse.

This year there have been two on the radio that are both simply awful in my book - All I Want For Christmas is New Years Day by Hurts (and it does!), and Christmas Lights by Coldplay

I agree. Totally overplayed and somehow a 'classic' because it talks about 'cool' things like being drunk, fighting and spending a night in the slammer.

I like 'Stop the Cavalry by Jonah Lewie', 'Merry Xmas Everyone' by Shaky and 'Step into Christmas' by Elton John.

I hate Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Power of Love

The Pogues is a good song it's just been adopted as a modern Christmas album

If we'd had internet boards 50 years ago we'de probably be saying

'White Christmas, hate the bloody song'

I like 2 out of your 3 there, plus Wombling Merry Christmas

I hate hearing the same 'classics' being repeated over and over again, I didn't like them before, I certainly won't now.

Sometimes I think "At least I'm young, most adults would have had at least another decade more of listening to this shit every year".

It's a shame that Another Rock 'n' Roll Christmas has been blacklisted. You never hear it played anymore at this time of year. Apparently people can't stand it now.

Don't hate me for saying I think its a cracking good song:o

Fairytale is a Christmas song by accident

It's a sad story about broken dreams and love that just happens to be set at Christmas....the NYPD doesn't even have a choir! The shock! It's been adopted because it hasn't aged badly like Slade and Wizzard and has an edge about it, half the people that like it probably don't know the lyrics or the meaning of it

It's like When A Child Is Born, which I've grown to love, Mathis didn't even realise that could be a Christmas song and was about to release it in July when a record exec pointed out it could have some Christmas in it
