It's fabulous. One of the best things on TV this holiday.
Very weird scheduling though. I kind of expected a turkey when it was tucked away at lunchtime as people are starting to pick up their daily routines again.
NB. It will shown again in the CBBC Channel, 5.40pm from Sat Jan 8
From Tuesday to Friday EVERYTHING!!!!!! on Daytime Terrestrial TV is a repeat apart from the News and Just William so well done to BBC1 for finding something new for Daytime.
This programme will be repeated several times over the next year on the CBBC so its combined audience will grow.
I just watched it on iPlayer. I used to read the William books years ago and like the Martin Jarvis audiobooks but did not think much of the TV versions I have seen, such as the one with Dennis Waterman as William.
I think that they made a great job of it this time. Perfect casting in all parts, and just the right light touch of gentle farce. I hope that this series might encourage some kids to read the stories for themselves.
Beautifully done; the Fifties is the ideal era in which to set it. I agree that the scheduling is most odd. It would be perfect Sunday teatime viewing.

Surely 5.30pm 28- 31 Dec would have been better.
BBC schedulers are morons!

:eek::eek::eek::eek: Didn't even recognise him!!
I knew I knew the brother from somewere too but would never have thought it was Dudders from HP! Well done with the weight loss - you look fab.
The four episodes are repeated as one at 6pm on Friday night on BBC HD.
Why set it in the 1950s?
Why only 4 episodes?
Why hide it in the daytime schedule and not at 7 or 8pm?
For answers to these questions just think about the idiots who run BBC drama these days! That should answer them!!!
The books are set in that time aren't they?
Not sure about the time slot though.
Missed it, and as you say it would have been perfect for a Sunday teatime serial.
I miss those:(
Also, they made a 6 x 30 minutes Just William in 1995.
Why they have to Remake everything every 10 years or so is just silly .... and lazy
Don't know why, it was excellent!
So no Marlon Brando references in the books.
