Carlos said Dave Lincoln isn't leaving Smooth, but is moving to a different slot.
Could be Sunday evening?
True.. Unless they bring something like Graham Norton, Dermot, Alan Carr, Gambo, Aled Jones, Steve Wright SLS, Elaine Paige, Johnnie Walker or Paul O'Grady etc do, then the station hasn't really changed only gone national and hired a few well known names. Tony Blackburn might as well stayed.
The 5-8pm slot ?
Have had Smooth on a bit over Christmas, enjoying Pat Sharp at Breakfast and he will be my preferred Weekend Breakfast Show.
Still going to stick with Radio 2 weekdays though.
Almost!
Yes well that was six months ago, and technically the station hasn't actually relaunched yet. I think Simon Bates could make or break the station, but we won't really have a clear idea for a couple of RAJAR sweeps yet.
which makes sense because I think Radio 2 gets a lot of default listeners who put up with it because its on FM and has no ad breaks, but dislike quite a bit about the station too.
I think being on FM, consistentcy of playlist and presentation and reducing the talk segments to compensate for the ad time on commercial stations are the key to providing an alternative to Radio 2 that people will switch too.
