Some of the sets for the spaghetti Westerns are still at Little Hollywood which is near Almeria in Spain. The John Lennon film How I Won the War was also made there. But it's not true the Magnificent Seven was made there, that was in Mexico.
Texas Hollywood is still there along with Mini Hollywood and Western Leone. All tourist attractions although Texas Hollywood is still used for TV, Film, music videos and commercials.
AFAIK ... it's exactly the same one used on both Total Wipeout and Wipeout USA
There are two Total Wipeout or Wipeout 'sets'. One in Argentina where all versions of tyhe show are filmed apart from the US version, and one in California.
Although i don't think we can call them abandoned as they are used all the time for filming, particually the Argentina one due to the fact so many countries film a version there.
Some of the chase scenes were filmed in Openshaw near where I grew up and the streets were still there until recently but have now gone to make way for a new Morrisons. The Chippy from the film East is East was also there. When I was a kid it was the corner shop where I bought my sweets on the way to school, the funny thing was that there was a chippy next door but they never showed that in the shots on film.
Here is the shop used in BBC1's Open All Hours. The pictures were taken in Doncaster, Aug 2009.
I'm pleased that it still looks old-fashioned. One of the things I liked about OAH was that you couldn't really tell what era it was set in, except a bygone one.
I'm not sure someone would want that big ol' tree plonked directly outside their front window now. I wonder if it was just a sapling when they built the set.
It's not been the same since they moved to a self-built set"
I totally agree with you glyn...I live not very far away from this estate in Gorton and was driving past so thought I would drive through. The Jockey, I think the real name was The Horse and Plough, has been demolished and the most of the estate has been earmarked for the same and boarded up. Wont be long before its all flattened and gone. No wonder they are now using the industrial estate in Wythenshawe at the site of the old Adidas factory. The new set looks OK but is far from completely authentic.
Don't forget the set from Star Wars (the first one) where Hans Solo is having a drink with Chewbacca in a bar.... This is in Tunisia. It's now a tourist attraction and restaurant. I have some pictures somewhere of when I went there but there are plenty on the web. EG:
Did they ever dig up the time-capsule that was intended to be dug up in 2000 or did they just replay the episode when they buried it to see what was in it? Lol!
When the 1984 Blue Peter Time Capsule was dug up, and the contents were in a rather sorry sodden state.
The container had a lot of a dirty black water in, although some of the items where sealed in plastic bags.
Here's the actual opening of the capsule buried in 1984 and opened up in 2000.
Brilliant thread. The building used for The Bill still has its production facilities and I believe parts of the last series of Peep Show were recorded there - according to the behind-the-scenes documentarr shown on Peep Show Night on C4 over Christmas.

The Peep Show lads' flat is Zodiac Court on the London Road in Croydon
The set of The Bill is still there, in the middle of an industrial estate near Wimbledon. You can walk past Sunhill police station just like any other building, when I was there late last year it was looking a bit bored up but its still most definitely there. Photos here:
We cycled past here on New Year's Day at the outside was still the same. It still hasn't been dismantled dispite filming ending back in June last year.

I didn't realise that they did build a replica set only until I got a DVD and watched the extras.
It does look very much the same I will give them that but I do agree it takes something away.

The Studio's have been sold, so they're probably keeping the Police set in case another production needs it.
Apparently there is a court, police cells, hospital and other stuff on the same site.

Those links don't seem to work!
I do agree about the outdoor set of Shameless, you can see the ophysical boundaries of it, sometimes on screen.
For example next to "The Jockey" is now a corregated iron fence, where as when it was filmed on location it used to go onto elsewhere.

The houses were simply the indoor houses, brought outside, the set was rebuilt in 1981, and is now being rebuilt again
We cycled past here on New Year's Day at the outside was still the same. It still hasn't been dismantled dispite filming ending back in June last year.
Was the location iat Tower Bridge?
I live oppisite Tower Bridge and always thought that it was filmed here:

I'm not sure if it was but remember seeing signs back in the day for it - could have been the auditions though?
I didn't realise that they did build a replica set only until I got a DVD and watched the extras.

Would love to go there and to most of these sets.

also from this link posted, if you move south east a little way you will see the big brother house.
and move a little further south accross the road you will see the old Grange Hill building being rebuilt.
Those links don't seem to work!

Fame Academy was filmed at three different site's.
