Would anyone be adverse to an old Doctor returning following a regeneration? Like say Matt Smith's Doctor croaks it and regenerates into Paul McGann or Colin Baker. Good idea/Bad idea/get thee to the deepest depths of Hell idea?

From a 'lore' point of view I do think it would be possible for the Doctor to de-generate into a former Doctors body, based on the fact the some timelords have been shown able to control their appearance whilst regenerating. Depends ofcourse just how good the Doctor is at regenerating and wether he wanted to take on an old appearance.
Turns from Doc 11 to Doc 7 then to Doc 6 and 5 before stabilising at Doc 4.
The Doctor is happy enough to be looking like Tom Baker again (if somewhat older than previously) but then the companion works out how to reverse the effect and the Doctor to his annoyance gets turned back into Matt Smith again.
I'm tempted to say....it depends on the Doctor (McGann, yes!).
But really I think part of the fun and excitement of regeneration is seeing who's going to be the Doctor's next and finding out what they're like, and whether you're going to love them or....not. It's one of the strengths of DW for me.
incarnation of himself, it'd actually be a regression. Regeneration means renewal. To "degenerate" is a
bit closer to what the OP suggested, although that's more like what happened to The Master when he
apparently ran out of regenerations in the classic series, and became a decayed zombie-like mess.
The Master has always been something of a degenerate anyway!
A christmas special with Tom Baker and Matt Smith joining forces would make viewing figures have a hard on!
and it's not even difficult to do in the world of Sci-fi and modern special effects, and brill script writing...
Doc num#4 could get aged by the Masters sonic (with modern effects, camera trickery and old footage) and the story could all be about returning him to his own time stream and defeating the Master...
I'd be an avid viewer anyway
5,000 kudos points to the man that remembered the in-universe excuse for being aged!
The term "fan wank" springs to mind, but why not?
Tom Baker in a Sara Jane episode appeals to me far more than him appearing in DW.
Well yeah, it would be that (fan wank) but without doubt it would pull a big audience and that's what telly is all about.
Also, that's why I suggested it be done at Xmas as things tend to go a bit on the camp side then i the whoniverse...
second thoughts, let drop it. It was a daft idea but I put it out there
Sarah encounters the TARDIS expecting the 11th Doctor to step out, only its the 4th Doctor who is now old. The 4th Doctor has an old Adric with him. It turns out that the Trickster has struck again, this time using Adric to change the course of the Doctor's history.
Only Sarah Jane knows of these changes, so sadly has to convince the Doctor and Adric to sacrifice themselves to save the universe being overtaken by the Trickster!
ha ha that's pretty neat.
Not much chance Tom Baker would agree to doing it but I like it when people on here put there ideas up for feedback
I would love Tom to appear in SJA but I must admit not as the Doctor. I would love him to be some bumbling old scientist that Sarah Jane befriends because he's so much like her Doctor.
to do it in a proper episode though wouldn't make much sense unless it lasted for about 2 minutes or something
