It started in the US, but is endorsed for everywhere, including the UK, by President Obama, David Cameron and many politicians, as well as Google, facebook, and many companies, tons of celebs.
*but this is a poor time for YouTube to be playing up.

Walsh was just 13 years old when he took his own life last month due to alleged bullying. Chase, 19, hanged himself. Brown, 13, outed himself to his parents and then shot himself. Lucas, 15, also hanged himself. According to classmates, he was a victim of bullying.

Hope, yes. That applies to everyone.
Exactly.
I mean it definitely won't get better if you kill yourself, that's all I can think of to justify the white lie.
And I have to say, in 99% of cases, it does get better. Trust me, being gay at 12-13 years of age is your worst nightmare come to life at school. Once you leave, the world is a surprisingly accepting place.
It was in response to a spate of suicides by young teens who were gay or were perceived gay by their tormentors. It had a specific purpose, nobody is saying that other people with suicidal thoughts don't need hope or support.
Lose an eye: It gets better
Lose your penis in a sex accident: It gets better
Death: It gets better
Masterchef: Nothing gets better than this.
This short clip is an example.

it would help a lot.
What kids need to understand is that when it comes to homosexuality, it's one of the few topics that is NOT open to opinion, alongside racism and sexism. To find it inherently indecent is just plain wrong, as it's not something that can be helped. There is no right and wrong about it, if you're gay you're gay. Thankfully more and more people are understanding that as the years go by.
Oh, no, I agree. Not entirely sure what I was trying to say actually.
to be fair those kids tend not to take their own lives, they move on and are generally not totally isolated because of it, they dont feel dirty or bad because they wear glasses, they are not told god hates them for being ginger ever sunday in church.
its not the same.
i was bullied for being fat, it was not that same feeling when i was bullied for being trans.
Not sure that you are correct.
On a general level everyone needs support as an when, but depression brought on by relentless never-ending bullying and homophobia in schools is totally unacceptable. All main parties have promised to do something in the UK, although it's unclear whether the coalition actually will - Gove tried to say he would abandon any measure to combat homophobic bullying in acadamies --- doesn't want any extra legislation or paperwork.
For those who are known to be subject to bullying, because of their sexual orientation, or race, or even religion, or because of the way they look, or because of a disability, need additional support simply because we already know they get bullied more than other young people - but of course anyone can be the target of bullying.
Gay young people are 3-4 times more likely to consider and attempt suicide than other young people, so there is an obvious problem which needs to be tackled.
LGBT history month is one answer - and contrary to the ludicrous claims in the Daily Fail, about teaching children as young as 4 about sexual technique, it's aims at the old relationship courses, and aims to present positive role models so that young gay people can build self-esteem and value themselves. It works with Black history education, and is proven to work to give young gay people a sense of pride in their cultural history.
as someone that has had both experiences and knows others who are the same I can say that being bullied because you are gay/trans is soul destroying to the point were ending it all seems like a very reasonable thing to do, people can change their appearance, you cannot change who you are and that is the difference.
Of course, without a doubt, acceptance is increasing, even for kids, and anyone in their 20s-30s who is just raising kids now is unlikely to tell them that being gay is wrong. Homophobia will phase out over time as the old guard of ill-informed nitwits who still believe it's some kind of choice disappear. The next generation of adults after us will be the most accepting bunch yet. Hell, even over the last 5 or so years there's been big improvements. The future's bright, the worst is over.
Any evidence that young people with ginger hair, or who wear glasses, are 1000x more likely to be bullied and take their own lives? No, didn't think you were making much sense.
Those sort of remarks are insulting and belittling to a thread dealing with a very serious issue, but typical of what I've come to expect from your posts.
Every single life is precious, we're not talking about doing something to help or save people only if they meet some pathetic quota system.
As someone who was once all three (now just gay, not ginger or bespectacled anymore) I can tell you which one got me bullied far and away the most. Clue: it wasn't ginger or glasses.
Also, the ginger and glasses were very easily changed, and I instantly binned both of those aspects as soon I was old enough. You're stuck with being gay.
