Has anyone else noticed random subliminal messages pop up really quickly just as a programme is going into an ad break? My hubbie and i have noticed this on E4 and Comedy Central.
It's definitely not something we are imagining as we've paused the tv and read the messages (and to my knowledge we're not drunk or hallucinating ).
If you've seen this do you know what it's all about?
Thanks.

The last part of the one we saw tonight was going on about getting other people to go out in disguise as yourself and raising an army whilst you sat at home eating a large sandwich. It was followed by the words "now that's job satisfaction" - very strange.
I'm sure if i was some kind of conspiracy theorist geek i would have documented it but it doesnt bother me that much, just wanted to see if we were the only ones. If i realised that i was going to get such a rude reply i wouldn't have bothered.
It wasn't advertising anything, it just flashed on for a second before the adverts started. We thought that it was one of the weird things E4 do sometimes as that was the first channel we saw it on but then we saw it on comedy central tonight
Asking for proof is rude to you?
Doesn't matter anyway:
The near-consensus among research psychologists is that subliminal messages do not produce a powerful, enduring effect on behavior;[1] and that laboratory research reveals little effect beyond a subtle, fleeting effect on thinking
Edit: so yeah it did happen, they aren't that funny though
Something that flashed on screen on tv just...?
this paragraph of text just flashed up on tv, it wasn't an advert because you can't read it or anything. I rewound it and paused to read it.
I've googled it and found nothing, and I'm just so curious as to what the hell it's about. I've typed out what it says:
"it's tough being a dictator these days. you've always got to keep up appearances, but which look do you go for? the billowing white kaftan with the fancy hat? what if the people revolt? difficult to escape in that costume, there;s always the military uniform with the beret and the medals you've awarded yourself for large scale murder; a bit camp though; one things for sure, any half decent dictator wears sunglasses or if youre really special get someone else to dress up as you for public outings then you can sit at home in your pants eating a massive sandwich now thats job satisfaction"
it wasn't a show, it was in the middle of the adverts on comedy central. but it was on for about a split second.
not exactly subliminal because you could see this wall of text, but yeah it wasn't advertising something.
No, telling me it didn't happen so in turn making me out to be a liar is rude and arrogant.
It was a perfectly reasonable, polite question.
ElMarko - thank you, i didn't realise comedy central did that. I also didn't find it funny just strange and random being the reason i asked about it in the first place.
I don't think this down to ESP , so are the tv co.s throwing some subliminal into their schedules ?
And given their legality and lack of efficacy, why would anyone bother using them?
No idea but theres some shown for a couple of frames at the end of the big bang theory, theres no way you can read it without pausing it on a DVR.
You sure that isn't just the Chuck Lorre ending? All his shows have a final panel with a blog like message that only shows briefly as part of the credits roll.
I saw a good one shortly after Osama bin Laden was killed ...
Those still needing proof () can find clips on YouTube.
Remember the channel name here. It's "Comedy Central". They're just trying to be comedic. There's no agenda here - just 'avin' a larf. Trying to get themselves noticed among a multitude of TV channels. Trying to get people talking about them, as we are here. That's all. And fair play - at least it gives people watching the channel live something interesting to read instead of having to watch the adverts.
If your worried about subliminal messages there are thousands about like the famous Harry Potter poster but these On Comedy Central and E4 are not subliminal messages.
Yes, its something that is meant to be seen and paused just like the CC bit.
If it was truly subliminal, it would be for 1 frame only and wouldnt be noticed and theyd be in big trouble.
They are not allowed to do anything like this by law.
If they are doing it then it should be reported to Ofcom, who will take action and I imagine either give the channels that do it a heavy fine, or possibly even shorten or revoke a licence to broadcast.
It's a simple as that really.
