How do you get a good pic of steaming hot food. I've tried twice, admittedly with an older basic camera, and it's blurred by the steam. Now, as proud as I might be about some meals, I'm not going to let them get cold before I eat. Any advice?

Lovely! Just a bit OT, I had some M&S ribs the other day as they were part of their 3 for£10 deal and they were delicious. Even OH liked them and he doesn't usually 'do' that sort of food.
Salad of spinach, avocado and some nectarine, sprinkled with chopped hazelnuts and drizzled with olive oil. It really could have used some feta, I think... or better yet, swapped for those ribs! ^^

A similar kind of salad I do is rocket with bacon, mango and feta. I dreamt the combination up myself but it works amazingly well. Sorry, no pics. (yet )

Oh, nice. I think bacon would have worked on mine as well... it desperately needed a hit of something salty.

While it looks very colourful and yummy, I think you needed something of more substance to keep you filled up a bit longer, like cheese or meat. Or for extra bloat, some bread. Did you have bread to go with it ?:D

You've read my ramblings in the low-carb thread, and now you're mocking me, aren't you? :D
Talking of taking photos of cold food. When we won a Pub Grub of the Year award the photographer said he would come when the pub was closed.
No we said there will be no food left - he said save a portion of steak and kidney pie, curry and rice, some cooked chips and anything else you want photographed.
The upshot was that we had a bar full of food which was cold, frozen or left overs which I must say looked wonderful when the photos were published in the local paper. He used the same salad with additions on one plate then moved it to another and took things off it etc. Frozen veg (from my domestic freezer) looked like freshly steamed fresh produce (which is what we used) and he used dark beer for dressing.
So all is not how it looks.;)
That is how professional photographers work in advertising.
However, here, we take our own pics of our own food that we are going to eat there and then.
There is a difference. You don't want to put all the effort in cooking your dinner and then let it go cold.:)

Mmmm, that looks just the job on a day like today!:)
Want.
Stand back further.
I always take photos of cold food.
Only joking ! Stand further away and zoom in. A bit of steam can make the picture more interesting.
