Any one know who gets the biggest ratings between 5pm-6pm. Is it ITV1 for The Chase as it starts at 5pm or is it BBC1 for Pointless from 5.15pm-6pm.

They don't show the ratings for the 2 programs very often but when they do, Pointless normally wins!
The chase normally gets between 1.7million & 2.1 million
Pointless normally gets between 2.2million & 2.5 million

Its Pointless I seem to watch the most on BBC1 when im in as I think that seems a better quiz and at times I try and play along with the show.

Definitely too much waffle, particularly from the host, if only because everytime they give an answer he seems to say practically the same thing twice, albeit in slightly different ways. For me they could EASILY cut it down to 30mins.
I record it, skip all the way to the fist question and fast forward the bits in between. Get it watched in half an hour easily.

Where did you hear that?
EDIT: Never mind. Just read that he said so on Lorraine.
I like the waffle on Pointless, there is now a good repore between Alex & Richard, and the contestants seems to enjoy it all. Having watched an old episode on Challenge you can see how it has now improved.
As for padding, what about the Chase, take away the advert breaks and promos and you can cut that down by 15-20 minutes
I would watch the Chase if it didn't clash with Pointless, haven't got enough time to watch one and record the other, so for me it's Pointless everytime, no adverts and good entertainment.
Yet another show that's going to have a celebrity version. Oh joy. No doubt like most other celebrity programmes, the celebrities will be people who aren't celebrities, who want to be celebrities, who used to be celebrities and now need to get back in the limelight, or Z-listers. Sick of everything becoming celebrity this, celebrity that, especially when half the time the majority of the people aren't celebs anyway. What next, celebrity weather, where celebrities get taught how to do a weather forecast, and the public gets to decide who did the best job?
I'd imagine bit like celebrity family fortunes type guests.. who are mostly soap folk or people who are in TV. Bradley said that many famous people wanted to try and beat the chasers!
Only issue is that on celeb FF everyone seems to win... as it is for charity... may well happen on the Chase.
And I love the Alexander and Richard banter.. it has really improved since the early episodes you see on Challenge.
Watched the Chase a few times but the questions are more like a normal quiz, though Bradley can be quite funny at times.
Still I have to choose Pointless.
The charity aspect (for those where you have a chance to win money for charity) is the only thing for me that makes any celebrity programmes remotely acceptable.
There's a bit of a difference between an ad break and "pointless" waffle:). Like after every answer Richard has to comment. Would be slicker if Richard only spoke at the end of each round.
I like the idea but it just needs to flow better. Obviously it done to fill more time, a bit like DOND is 95% filler but not as bad, thank God.
The original Pointless shows started with 5 couples. At some point they reduced that down to 4 couples so there would have been some extra time to fill. I prefer the current format as you have more time to learn something from the questions and it doesn't feel rushed, but you would call it waffle, fair enough
Don't get me started on DOND since it went to an hour, completely ruined the show IMO. If you say DOND is now 95% filler how can Pointless be padded out anymore than that.
I worded it badly. I meant Pointless is nowhere near as bad as DOND, which was poor even before they extended it.
Nothing wrong with learning something from the questions, I just feel it would be better for Richard to explain it all at the end of the round. Just my opinion.
Totally agree - celebrity versions are never as good as shows with members of the public, where the contestants actually give a toss.
I'm not keen on these computer generated presentations for answers in general. Who is to say five said this, one said that? Was it really black and not red? The guy upstairs in control could be entering this information at the time. Not that I'm suggesting this happens.
