Law & Order: Special Victims Unit is currently the highest-rated series of the Law & Order franchise, and presently NBC's top rated scripted drama. The series has been nominated for and won numerous awards, including the 2006 Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for Hargitay (the first Emmy to be received by a regular on any Law & Order series).
I'm aware of the stats Tiexan but the question was what has happened to it recently- this series, it's become complete rubbish obviously different writers that have drifted away from the format that made it such a great show.
One of them is credited with the name "speed weed" that should be a clue.
the decision to let Chris Meloni leave rather than up his salary and downgrade Mariska Hargitay's role in series 13...a new lead team of detectives might work but it has the potential to be the last ever series if it flops
Wasn't looking forward to SVU without Meloni but boy it sure brought out the best in MH also should mean Belzer getting more screen time hopefully.
Just watched S13 ep01 on Universal. No Stabler but Alex Cabot back and Casey Novack will be seen at some time .
Munch perhaps is an underused character but I have enjoyed following his career all the way from Boston "Homicide".

Why isn't Tamara Tunie in the opening credits anymore?
Surely they won't be getting rid of her, especially since Chris Meloni & BD Wong have left?
I think she is an unsung hero of this programme.

Alex back (again) - yehhhhhh!
Alex and Casey will be the main ADA's under the control of Mike Cutter (Linus Roach) from the main L&O series.
Looks like Jack has finally retired as Mike mentioned a new DA last night but no name
Thought Olivia was brilliant last night, and to be fair she's been in the same job for 10 years so a promotion is long overdue.

Is this series going to concentrate a little more on trial, hence bringing back both Alex and Casey and Tamara will not be in every episode (hence her vanishing from the Credits). ?
I'm not surprised if it does, with the demise of L&O, L&O:CI and the failure of L&O:LA it does mean it's getting back to basics.

I haven't seen a reason why Tunie is now listed as a guest star, perhaps because her character will be seen only occasionally.
Does anybody know why UK Channel 5 seems to have dropped both “Law & Order Special Victims Unit” and “Law & Order Criminal Intent” after just a few episodes into the latest series? These are two of my favourite programmes.

probably due to the moronic Big brother tripe that is on. Universal (Hallmark channel) on SKY/Virgin shows the whole series (SVU).
that show (BB) needs burying in a very, very deep orifice!

They claim the ratings weren't what they wanted, so they are taking the shows off the air and returning them at a time to be determined at a later date.
Was more stupid in the case of SVU as it only had 3 episodes of its current season left.

Aaaah well, goodbye Elliott.
Good to see Alex back. And Danny Pinno (sp?) mentioned in the credits? Is he from Cold Case?

and very sad I thought.
Munch Man is easily the highlight of the show, but he's been way under-utilised the past couple of seasons.

So pretty happy. Though US ratings are a bit wobbly.

The ratings were quite bad, but in SVU's case it was self-inflicted as it kept getting pushed back later and later due to Big Brother.

Oh yes and mighty fine eye candy he is too:D
He is nice, though my fave is Enrique Merciano (Danny) from Without a Trace. Had no idea he was dating Lily Cole!

We share similar taste in men - he is yum too:D
It was actually also posted on these very forums a few days ago. I think in the TV programmes somewhere (possibly the ratings thread).
Always worth trying to use the search facility here for anything TV programme related as it usually in here.
