Does this mean the can of worms can now be opened?

Oh I think there are far bigger things than worms in this particular can.

I wrote to Jim'll fix it and asked if I could be Dr Who's assistant(Tom Baker).
    I never got a reply.

I wrote to him asking to meet David Soul. Why? God knows.

A girl from my school went on with her sister and they did a kids' version of The Generation Game.

    Loved him on TOTP.

I'll never forget his iconic image in the 70's with his Cigar and jewlery.

    Awww bless

No mention on Radio two, but Dermot has just said 'no texting as this show isn't live'.

I'd have though Jimmy would have merited breaking in with a news flash though :(

Didn't someone suggest in a thread here some months back that some seriously interesting stuff would come out but not until after he'd popped his clogs...?

Yes they did. Will have to wait and see what happens. He was always good value as an eccentric personality though.

I presume they didn't have confirmation of his death by then.
Woodencat posted that "BBC now confirming the news."

The reason I asked Radio or TV is because I have BBC R2 on and it wasn't on the 3pm news.

I can just see Sir Jim arriving at the Pearly Gates and St Peter saying to him "now then, now then, as it 'appens...."

RIP Sir Jim. A true one-off. May you keep fixing it 'up there'.

Cant' we put the bloke in the ground before raking up aspects of his past?

A fascinating and interesting cultural figure through the opening up of the pop world from the 60's onwards.

    RIP Jimmy.

My tip off was from my partner via a news feed to a national radio station, have no clue how the Beeb will put it out there.

84, not a bad innings considering he seemed to always be smoking cigars.

Despite the unfounded internet slurs against Jimmy that have gone around for many years, I still think he was a great character, bizarre but entertaining. I'm sure all the people he helped with his many, many millions raised in charity, would also think so.

I will always think of him on early TOTPs, with half of his hair white, the other half black.

(I found out by logging on to the Daily Mail site 20 minutes ago, then on Sky News. BBC have only just reported it, but I believe Sky often rush in and have killed off people prematurely before, so the BBC prefer to get absolute confirmation first.)

    R.I.P. Jim.

Sad news, Jim'll was a national treasure, but probably not in Jersey.
