Over the last couple of years I've seen a few of the good old horrors - Psycho, The Birds, Rosemary's Baby and many others. Can anyone recommend some good ones?

The original The Fog, John Carpenters original. Original Omen 1 and 2. Christine - brilliant one! Halloween, Doctor Terror House of Horrors or something, 2 good short stories in that one, 2 not so good. Original Amityville Horror 1 and 2 in fact.
Two B&W film,s that never fail to work for me - Dead of Night - portmanteau film with a linking story that is possibly scarier than the individual stories Les Diabolique - Classic film that had to suffer a massively inferior remake by US xenophobia mill.
Creepshow
The Haunting
The Dead Zone
Dawn of the Dead
Race with the Devil
From Beyond
If u like horror type miniseries i would check out salems lot and helter skelter, both from the 70s and very good, helter is currently showing on truemovies.
The Seventh Victim
Curse of the Cat People
Night of the Demon
The Unearthly Stranger
The Other
Don't Be Afraid of the Dark (1973 version)
The Asphyx
The Haunting
Nightmare Alley
The Legend of Hell House
Witchboard 1986-87 is very good, (when is that getting released on DVD Region 2 anyone) as is Ghosthouse 1 and 2 imo. Late 80's films.
Hellgate i thought was pretty good, though this and the next one I'd recomend Slaughter High are more like b movie types.
Creepshow 1 and 2 both have 2 good short stories in them.
One of the Tales of the Crpyt films was good but I'm not sure under what individual name its called. Its the one with the main female lead from Commando is in it.
The original Fright Night was very good though that is more horror comedy but still well worth watching as are the first 2 and original Nightmare on Elm Streets.
The Hand I think its called seemed pretty good though i only saw it in parts and was always pretty knackered when i did so find it hard to remember but it was about a detached hand coming abck to haunt the person responsible for it being detached I think...........
Nearly every horror fan i've spoken to and asked about which older horror movies I should watch have said this one is easily one of the best (if not the best).

I also enjoyed Mr. Sardonicus (1961) and The Abominable Dr. Phibes (1971).
The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (1920).

The innocents.
Im going to watch it this weekend.
I used to love the climax of that film.
I don't think this has been on tv for years yet back in the 70s/80s it seemed to be on loads.
and the 1st Dracula with Christopher Lee
Blood On Satan's Claw
The Devil Rides Out
Dracula, Prince Of Darkness
The Plague Of The Zombies
Witchfinder General
The Medusa's Touch is available to buy on Amazon I think.
