As a Spurs fan (and an ex-emergency nurse) I would like to add my thoughts and best wishes for Fabrice Muamba, his family, friends and medical team. Football is really irrelevant when something this terrible happens- absolutely the correct decision to abandon the game.

Breaking news is that Fabrice Muamba is stable. What wonderful news indeed. Just goes to show that CPR given quickly and effectively does save lives.

Thanks Peter. That means a lot to me. :)

Yes without the insults NRR was quite an interesting guy to read but you simply cannot hope to get away with personal insults against fellow posters, maybe he'll come back with a better understanding of this.

Very sorry to learn about the loss of your two pets Lorelei it must be very upsetting for you right now, I've never lost a pet this way but can imagine the pain of it must be heartbreaking. :(

I have more important things on my plate to concern myself with and I'm sure everyone else has too, it's just that I didn't expect to be affected as much as I am.
A lot of people think that cats aren't as important as dogs petswise so I'm so pleased that everyone has been so understanding.
To lose 2 much-loved cats on the same day after having them for 3 and a half years is a mystery and I'm starting to suspect foul play. :(
I've been out looking all day and lots of the local kids have been helping me, bless them. We actually found a little lost kitten but it wasn't one of mine..
Before I had these 2 sibling cats, I had another beautiful fluffy cat that disappeared with no trace. Usually if they get run over or poisoned you can find them.
My husband insists she was catnapped because she was so pretty and friendly.
So there you go, I've spent hours looking and this is the fourth day they've been missing. I'm considering putting a notice in the local paper.
Thanks everyone, sorry for going off topic. I'll not mention it again unless they turn up. :)

I have had 4 cats (well they had me..) in the past I know how much these marvellous creatures affect your life. I lost my first cat at the age of 3 (hers not mine) to the extent that I couldn't go to work for three days. I have had two cats just disappear and had the sudden loss of my beloved Smokey at the age of 10 last Halloween which affected me to the extent that I couldn't go home for three days, was unable to deal with the vet as was in complete floods of tears all the time and unable to speak. I still cannot believe that he is not here anymore (I know he isn't though).

A cat is so much more than a pet and becomes a part of your family. My Smokes has kept me going through my current lack of employment and his loss hurt. I still live in hope that the other two (Shadow and Swipey) who have been missing for 18 months and almost 2 years respectively will just stroll back in and demand food.

I don't know what I can say to ease your pain Lorelie as words are pretty insignificant in these situations but I tell myself that Swipey had gone feral (he would bite the heads of mice in front of me and then eat the whole thing) and established a hareem/ cat colony elsewhere and is having the time of his life and Shadow (who was completely idle and tended not to move if he could help it) has taken up residence with an old lady who pampers him. Wherever they are I hope that they are being loved as much as I loved them.

Im not trying to pour cold water on your husbands theory but I dont see why anyone would steal 2 of them if only one stood out as being pretty and friendly..... its twice the work for the person who has taken them.

This is a nightmare. :( I hope he makes it.

What's happened exactly all I've heard is he's been taken to hospital and the game was called off.

    You are most welcome Lor.

I've never been a cat person really Lorelei we had lots of them as I grew up at home with my parents but I've never personally kept one myself I am more of a dog person BUT that does not mean of course I underestimate what it must be like to lose a pet cat and in your case even worse two cats. I really hope and pray they turn up tomorrow morning on the doorstep and your all happy again, I can really imagine how upset you will be feeling tonight. :(

Thank you so much for this, Naterlee.
It occurred to me that people would think I was being over the top about being so upset.
I'm finding it hard to sleep thinking that my cats are lost and just trying to find their way home.
I'm going to keep my hopes up that they'll come back. If that doesn't happen, just like you, I'm going to believe that someone kind is taking care of them.
My life just won't be the same without Spooky and Lola.
You've been a big help, thanks again. :)

Fabrice Muamba is critically ill in intensive care in the specialist heart attack centre of the London Chest Hospital after what appears to be a heart attack.
Naterlee pointed out that he may have a better chance of survival after quick CPR was administered on the pitch.

The cat my husband believes was taken was the one we had before the current two that are now missing. Sorry, it's confusing.
She was very friendly and allowed people to approach her and stroke her so my husband thinks someone took a notion of her and stole her.
However, Spooky and Lola were wary of other people and Lola especially was a scaredy-cat. She only trusted the family. I've no idea what's happened to them except that it's weird for them to disappear at the same time.
If they've got lost and someone finds them and takes them in that won't be as bad as thinking that they've died which I can't bear.
All I know is that when I'm walking past anyone's house in the future I'll be looking out for Lola sitting in a window cos that's what she liked to do.

I'm not a sports fan, as I have often said on here, but I would just like to add my best wishes to Fabrice Muamba.

I'd never previously heard of him, so went for a look on YouTube - how 'nice' to see that certain members of the public see fit to make sickening racist abuse on there, as the poor young man is fighting for his life in an ICU. :(

I keep thinking on and off of you and your poor pusscats, Lor.

I just have this idea/hope that someone has taken them in (or even two separate people) and are keeping them as pets. We once had three cats who were housecats and although we had a garden, they rarely even left the step, so it's possible for them to be kept in and get used to it.

Don't give up, cats are very resourceful and remember, you haven't found them left dumped anywhere, so there is great hope still.

Sometimes I despair for the unbelievable attitudes of some 'people.' A fellow human is fighting for their life and as members of the same species we should all share a concern for his welfare. Things like age, colour, race, gender, politics, football rivalries are of no consequence here.

I have been in the position many times from working in emergency areas at having to instigate and carry out CPR and advanced life saving techniques- sometimes successfully, sometimes not. My primary concern was to get my patient going again- nothing else mattered.

I would urge everyone to go and get some basic CPR training as you never now when it might be required. It is not as daunting or awful as it is having to tell people that their loved one has died. CPR can and does saves lives.

From what I can gather, Fabrice is a lovely guy, fit, a hard-worker with a great manner and attitude in his approach to the game, he's popular generally and his teammates and fans are glowing in their praise of him.
Youtube allows their comments sections to be hijacked by racists, homophobes and those who revel in using the vilest language.
I don't understand why those comments are allowed when the site is used by so many kids.

Thank you, RM. :) I am really cut up about it but thanks to people on here, I feel more positive and I'm not giving up hope yet.

I have done the training in a previous job, the course I done was called ABC A - airways B - breathing C - circulation. Thankfully I have never had to administer it in a real scenario butI would not hesitate if the need arises.

When I was growing up at home, we always had dogs. My dad loves the big breeds and he hated cats whereas I love cats and dogs.
My dad has a Pyrenean Mountain Dog, it's the size of a polar bear and is as white as one. Before that he had a St. Bernard.
I love these big dogs too but I know the care and expense involved so I didn't intend on keeping any pets.
However, all the cats I've had are ones that I've found or rescued. People dump them in the most callous ways.
If I find them, I have a tendency to keep them.
Both my cats had collars but I'm now regretting not getting them chipped the last time I took them to the vet.
They've been missing for 4 days now and I haven't been sleeping well. I'm getting to listen to lots of overnight radio though. :p
My husband knows how precious the cats are to me and he's been great, looking everywhere and knocking on everyone's doors to ask if the cats have been seen. I couldn't bother people like that but he has no shame.
Thanks for all your kind words, it's nice to know that people care. :)

Having been out at a restaurant yesterday evening I turned my phone back on to check the score and was completely shocked by what I read.

I haven't seen the YouTube posts but if they are as reported, then it's disgraceful.

The fact that both sets of players were too distraught to continue, along with both sets of fans showing respect and then ultimately joining together to chant his name, followed by a reported "eerie silence" upon leaving the ground, demonstrates how insignificant sport is and puts everything in perspective.

Bill Shankley's comment in the 1970's may have been tongue in cheek, but it was wrong.

Not being religious I can only offer my thoughts for him and hope that medical science can pull him though.

I just want to add that along with everyone I am hoping and wishing that Fabrice can pull through.

There are terrible comments are out there on You Tube - this is beyond shameful. What sort of a world do we live in when people can say such vile things?

You are spot on, I switched off yesterday morning because The Championship, Lge1 & Lg 2 were hardly mentioned on Sagg & Quinny show even though there was only 2 Premiership and a 2 FACup games being played elsewhere.:mad:

Quinn was all over Stevie G's Hatrick in the midweek games.
