Will Virgin have any Customers left after Neil Berkett forces everyone to have a Tivo box and after the April Price rises?
I think the Churn Rate will go up as some people refuse to get a Tivo box
because they will see the shock of what they are currently paying compared to
what their new package will cost them
Current Prices for the new Package and Bundle for one Tivo box and one Landline
30MB Broadband £18.50 a month
Size M TV £7
Tivo Service Charge £5
VOD Picturebox £5
Size M Phone £13.90
Total £49.40 a month
The Triple XL Package with one Tivo box and one Landline without the Extras including the HD Pack will be
XL100MB Broadband £35 a month
Size XL TV £26.50 a month
Tivo Serive Charge £5 a month
VOD Picturebox £5
Size XL Phone £8 a month
Phone Line Rental £13.90 a month
Total £93.40 a month

TiVo has over 500,000 customers already.

He is constantly posting misleading information. Other people have also said that.

Yes, Neil said so when he spoke at the Cable Congress 2012

No i think that would be worse,at the minute if you do a comparrison with sky for tv you think
sky entertainment extra -£25
virgin xl tv -£26.50
(both prices are if you have a landline)
so people think ok virgin is £1.50 more but worth it due to the on demand or the HD,the £5 tivo gets put into the bundle price so its harder to notice (if you click on tv it shows the price of £26.50)
if they change this to
virgin tv xl £31.50 people will think twice,£6.50 more than sky tv,i know it works out the same price but its the way they market it
I dont really think they need the £5 for tivo but feel it helps towards other things they can no longer give for 'free'- HD,ESPN,box repairs. again if you add all these on to your sky tv pack it works out dearer but as we virgin customers know sky are very good at making things seem cheaper compared to virgin by havving these extras hidden rather than included,if you done a honest like for like it would be-
sky / virgin
entertainment extra £25 / XL £26.50
HD £10.25 / HD included
ESPN £12 / ESPN included
box insurance £8.99 / box insurance included
box cost p.m free / box cost tivo £5
total £56.24 / total £31.50
Looking at that even us paying the £3 for tivo not the £5 will have another increase taking us all up to £5:mad:
You'll have seen that we've increased prices to existing customers by 5% in April. We've also made the move to increase the price of TiVo for all new TiVo subscribers from GBP 3 to GBP 5, which takes place immediately. And in 12 months time, as current TiVo customers roll off their first 12-month contract, they will migrate from GBP 3 to GBP 5.
He actually said [customers] were paying £3 for that Tivo service, not we're paying TiVo £3.
The £5 only applies to new TiVo boxes ordered after the 28th Feb
Additionally, to change the fee from £3 to £5 would be classed as a price change in the terms so would allow you to cancel if you so wished.
Yes you are right,it says in the speech 'in 12 months' so its not now, also 1 good thing about virgin compared to sky is any price change with virgin means you can cancel that part of your contract or to be honest use it as a tool to do a deal, with sky it has to be a certain amount (cant remember how much)
From another Thread, I will try to find you a Link
If you can't afford it, no-one is forcing you to take it.
If you're comfortable washing a torrent of crap off you, you're already subscribed. If you're not, you're not.
Subscribers aren't worse than non-subscribers. Nobody is worse than anybody. BUT, nobody is less for ignoring this crap. Ignore, or believe. Nobody is judging you.
Except God, who is sad.
As for everyone having a Tivo, well why not. Someone in this thread said they "just want a box that records". Well, Tivo does that. It's all I use it for.
I did wonder if they might produce a box similar to the standard V-Box that doesn't record. It could have the Tivo software, but just set a reminder rather than a recording. Kinda pointless, really, but if that's what people want who am I to argue
Now it's definately gone
Should I have had a visit from men with baseball bats demanding I phone up and get Tivo? I feel like I missed out!
Thanks Ben, but I and SOME others already knew that
