What would everyone say is the best dramatic performance they have seen in a film? For me Meryl Streep's performance in 'Sophie's Choice' is pretty unbeatable, but I'd like to know what everyone else thinks

Nicole Kidman - The Others. She is phenomenal in this.
Agreed. Even if I was a little bit iffy on the film as a whole. I could pick from among several of his roles. I can't wait to see him Lincoln.
For women I loved Gloria Swanson in Sunset Blvd.
Kenneth Brannagh in Conspiracy.
The whole performance was great, but the car crash scene, where she is trapped in the car, and has to be saved by the guy what abused her sexually was intense to say the least, and its so filled with emotion and its so overwhelming.
Heres the scene http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f1yXXGXhdkg&feature=related
just brought Sophie's choice for my mum so hoping its good
I totally agree. His performance in 'The Godfather' and 'A Streetcar Named Desire' are favourites of mine too
You are 66.6666666% right.
his performance in last tango in paris is sensational.
I haven't seen that film yet. I'm a big fan of his though so will watch it soon
yep, a fantastic performance. Apparently she was a bit wild on the set, disappearing for days on end, throwing tantrums and shredding her wardrobe with her teeth!!:p:D
couple of restrained, mannered performances
albert finney, brilliant in "The Browning Version"
anthony hopkins in "Remains of The Day"

This for me too or Kathy Bates in 'Misery'.
La Vie en rose is simply amazing. Marion rightfully won the Oscar after putting on a truly breathtaking performance.
