I painted a few coats of facets of fuschia on it's own...and the texture didn't bother me as I don't care if glitters feel gritty...I just didn't feel it when it's on the nail. I don't quite know what it is but it just doesn't have that something it seemed to have in the bottle when it grabbled my attention.
My Sweet Life I don't like the gritty feel of glitters either, I just add a good topcoat to smooth it out.
I love glitter though, so I'm willing to put up with it. Currently giving my nails a bit of a rest at the mo, while I decide what shade I'm going to wear next.
Without going through all 27?!? pages, who can recommend me a quick drying, solid colour, non glitter varnish? Am too old for patience and irridesence!

I blame this thread for making me rather obsessed with nail polish! Went for a quick wander round the shops after work and came home with a Rimmel base coat and matte top coat, Revlon Radiant and Models Own Purple Haze and Magenta Divine. My fiance is getting rather fed up of me looking at nail blogs and could not understand why I was so amazed with my Ruby Pumps polish
Okay so I made another attempt at water marbling, and it was okay...I mean some turned out like I liked but some looked a blobby mess. I was aiming for kind of psychedelic so randomness was okay by me but it was a pain...though I'm not ready to give up on the technique yet
I wasn't going to buy anymore varnish after the MUA love hearts one a few weeks back, but I ended up buying a lovely fine, gold glitter for like 99p, and I found the fresh frog of bel air for a fiver so I picked it up too. BUT no more for now Just going to work with what I have now.
I never used to paint my nails because I was convinced that they'd look rubbish, but I bought some lilac Barry M and now I've gone all obsessed. At the moment they're blue with black crackle effect over the top, quite enjoying them

My nails are still in a terrible state. Enough is enough! i can't stand my short bare nails any longer. It's my 40th in a few weeks and I need them to recover ASAP. I ordered OPI Nail Envy and their cuticle oil 2 pack from QVC, £18 for the two.
I'm having a really bad problem with weak nails at the moment.
I hadn't worn nail varnish for years until over the christmas period I got the urge and painted my nails a few times. When I removed the varnish they looked a bit dry so I put almond oil on them and left them for a day (this was a few times).
My nails started breaking off and being generally crappy even when I hadn't worn varnish for about a month they were still breaking off, they've only just recovered now, but some are still short and broken looking and I don't think I've worn varnish for perhaps 8 to 10 weeks.
I was into layering with glitter and so took a good soaking with varnish (wrapping my fingertips in tin foil) so I'm thinking it was the remover rather than the varnish that was causing the problem.
The problem is that I went a bit crazy when I did get the urge and got loads of varnishes, most of them I still haven't tried. I would love to but I'm scared of buggering up my nails again.
Any suggestions?

I went a bit mad, and bought 12 bottles of varnish today. They were on 3 for 2 in Boots. I got a bunch of Barry Ms (mostly pinks) and some Models Own Beetlejuices, which looked amazing in the bottle despite the disappointing swatches online.

Barry M. Preferably with Seche Vite topcoat.
But you are never too old for irridescence!
OPI Nail Envy is your (rather expensive, but very effective) friend. Boots stock them now.
Try Solar Oil. A really good almond oil the nourishes your nails.
Unless the person who told you that was a fertility expert then I think you are allowed to laugh in their face.
You were right about the Models Own Beetlejuice collection... the second collection is apparently disappointing too. Review here:

I can't be bothered to do 4 coats of anything! 2 is my limit with base coat and top coat.

Oh wow, much better than my attempt.
Love the marbling btw, pinkbellybutton, - psychedelic indeed!

Nail Envy is the best thing ever.
