Yours is a Carphone Warehouse CPW. I have read in other posts that if you take it to a carphone warehouse centre they will put ICS on for you. I don't know if this is correct.
Simply change you SGSII CSC code to NEE and Kies will detect the official ICS upgrade for your phone. No need to root or to install any kind of custom ROM's....
Follow the simple steps to change your CSC code:
1. Press *#06# to get your IMEI.
2. Press *#272*IMEI#
3. Select NEE and click install. Phone will reboot.
Connect it to KIES and it will detect the Latest ICS upgrade.
Keep it simple Silly!!!
Trust me guys ICS is awesome!!!
This sounds dodgy to me - I wouldn't try it on the basis of one post.

Cheers mate..will have to wait till I can get into town to get it done then....
If you look on the Samsung firmware info page info there is no code for NEE
United Kingdom.
BTC = UNITED KINGDOM
O2I = UNITED KINGDOM
O2U = UNITED KINGDOM
ORA = UNITED KINGDOM
TMU = UNITED KINGDOM
TSC = UNITED KINGDOM
VOD = UNITED KINGDOM

There are many posts on this and other boards about putting ICS ROMs on an S2. Mine is 4 months old and I won't risk the warranty just get ICS which may be better or worse than Gingerbread. I have read that there are counters in the phone which would show attempts to install non-authorised software. It's difficult to judge what is true and what is myth but the S2 is not a cheap bit of kit. Everyone has a free choice.
Personally I will wait for Samsung to release ICS for my XEU phone.

XEU is the main Unbranded UK one.
People can download a XEU version of the "official" firmware from XDA developers already.
why so important to identify all the network codes?
Your post suggested changing the CSC code to NEE which is not a UK network code. It is probably a generic Nordic code. If you change the CSC then I think that the phone will only update from that network or from Samsung for a generic group. For the UK if the CSC is VOD then the update comes from Vodaphone. For XEU it comes from Samsung as a generic UK code.
I'm no expert on this but this is what I think happens from what I have read.
Any views on this?
Once you start using Odin to update your phones you won't worry anymore about waiting for Kies to have an update for your specific carrier anymore. Odin is simple to use if your worried about invalidating warranties etc there are ways of resetting the flash counter etc. Bearing in mind Samsung have actually supplied some of the rom developers with S2's to develop roms like Cyanogenmod I can't even see how they can claim an issue even if you broke your phone.

My main concern was that I'd managed to get into a position that I *couldn't* use Kies to update my phone anymore and would have to do them all manually. I don't think that's generally the case, but I think I ended up on a frankenstein firmware which wouldn't have an official upgrade path.
Certainly it's not a route I'd recommend for everyone.
TBH I had more hassle when I relied on Kies then I ever have with Odin it always needed updating before allowing phone updates etc. Odin takes around the same amount of time maybe a little longer but I'm not waiting for a programme to tell me when I can have an update. I can update/change rom whenever I feel like it or want to try a new one. The phone has so much more to offer and nobody can get an update that's already freely available because computer says no.
Guys my Csc is CPW....even though I bought my phone directly from the three website and I'm still with three.
Any idea how on earth I have a carphone warehouse code?
It means all my fellow three owners have the update... But not me
If you bought it directly from three as a new phone then they have sold you a refurbished one that was originally supplied by Carphone warehouse. If you get the serial number from inside the phone and tell three they should either replace it or at least fix it. They are in breach of the sale of goods act.

That's of course if CPW actually stands for Carphone Warehouse? I've heard of people going to Phones4u and also coming out with a CPW csc. And even if it does mean Carphone Warehouse, doesn't actually mean the phone is refurbished.
On another note, do Carphone Warehouse actually supply firmware updates?

one,
No they don't, they have nothing to do with the firmware process, unlike the Vodafone, Tmobile, etc who customise for a better user experience
On another note, just dropped my Galaxy S2 in water. Was completly immersed for at most 1s. removed battery straight away and have left it in the airing cupboard for a while. Would of used rice, but haven't got any.

not being dodgy, just asking if someone tried it. Originally seen here:

So *#272*IMEI# - does it work or not?

BTC = ?

O2U = O2?
ORA = Orange
TMU = T Mobile
TSC = ?
VOD = Vodaphone
XEU = Open Market
VIR = Virgin

CPW = Carphone Warehouse
O2I will be Ireland and O2U will be UK
At a guess BTC would be BT mobile, O2I would be O2 ireland and O2U UK, and TSC would be Tesco.
I can't find TSC
I think NEE mentioned earlier might be a generic nordic countries code

You could just go to sammobile and download the official 3 firmware and install with odin.
