It's great fun! It gets the adrenaline pumping waiting for signs of movement and then imagining how pissed off the guy is when you've picked him off. Lovely stuff.
Yes it take patience to sit there for ages waiting for someone to come in sight.
Or getting a long distance head shot.
Then moving on in case they come back to where you are.
I think it is a shame when they use kill cam to find where you are after they've died.
With a crappy connection run-and-gunning is less about skill and more about ping.
I must admit my personal preference is really for sniping. The skill there comes not necessarily from the first kill, but how you then ensure that you don't let anyone get close enough to you to exact revenge.
I don't really know what's going on with matchmaking these days. It used to be that I'd get into loads of lobbies with people from my exact area - now I seem to end up in with loads of johnny foreigners. Not a bad thing in itself, but it almost certainly means you're in for a sh1t game.

I like to run and gun but as you said a lot of it depends on lag and shit like that. I get round it by using the recon perk and a complete reliance on UAVs so I generally know where people outside of the usual hotspots are going to be.
The only map I snipe on is mission, but that's only really to get some extra XP on one of the sniper rifles.
It is pretty satisfying getting a one shot kill tracking someone running across your line of sight,

Does the recon perk work on people who have Cold Blooded and Ninja Perks?
There have been times where I'm sure someone knew where I was even though I didn't give anything away.
On the run and gun issue, I feel it isn't skill half the time, but more lag or luck of the draw.
Loads of times I've felt I had the shot or stab in first but on looking at the kill cam, theirs was first.

There's definitely more lag in those games than when I'm in a British lobby.

I seem to be put in Arabian lobbies all the time.
It also takes absolutely no skill.
Not a lot takes skill in MW.
Running around gunning people isn't much of a skill either.
I think you'll find that sniping in real life is very much a skill compared to infantry.
Yes it does! Being up on a high spot and trying to get them in the head while they're running around takes accuracy and patience.
Yes it's annoying when they won't stay still long enough to get a shot in.
The trick is to find some where, where they stop to look around or to camp.
Without wanting to sound a bit racisty, they're probably living over here...
I see now why Black Box is annoying. I don't think I've had a single Kill Confirmed game finish within the time frame yet...
To avoid dying you need to be quick to react, know where to go and when to go there all in a very short space of time.
It is easy to run around and pick up a few flank or in-the-back kills but to do it well requires a lot of 'skill'.
Why didn't anyone tell me about this?:p

He sure does swear a lot.
