Ahh, I really, really hope EBU would change the starting time to a bit earlier; over here, as we're CET+1, the shows start at 10 pm, which is a bit too late, imo (and an agonizingly long wait)... Just one hour forward would make a big difference. I know in the UK they would then start at 7 pm, but that's not ridiculously early (or do you think it is?), and as the majority of ESC countries after all are on CET time zone or eastwards from that, it surely would suit the majority...
As a UK viewer I've always quite like the build up to the 8pm start especially if guests are arriving for a party to go with it. However I think there should be some flexibility and that a 7pm start this year would have been more sensible
Was she trying to compete with Joan for the "most stupid outfit" award?
Ignoring that, it was a great performance, and as long as nothing goes wrong on the night, this might be one of the few songs I'd actually bother to vote for (which will probably doom it to finish 30th).
isn't Portugal in our time zone? Not that i imagine that many watch in Portugal anyway, to be honest.
Portugal effectively does everything at the same time as Spain. So, if a Spanish family begin lunch between 14:00 and 15:00 Spanish time, a Portuguese family will begin between 13:00 and 14:00 Portuguese time. If it's too early for Spain (which it already is), it's too early for Portugal (which it already is).
Of course, these countries are the minority in having the contest broadcast too early for them, although I'm not sure how it would affect Iceland with a revised start time of 18:00. Their NFs don't begin until 20:30, so it probably would be too early for them.
Does anyone know how much of a problem the current start time is for eastern Europe?
Yes and he's asking all his interviewees the same question and whereas the rest give fawning answers, her rolling eyes say it all, "it's certainly a choice"
With such an audience share, Eurovision could be broadcast at 5am in Iceland.
After deciding my points for the NF contest I have to say Conchita Wurst was robbed. Even if the song is camper than a row of tents it's still far superior to Trackshittaz.
yeah Conchita was robbed, Its quite antithetic and would of definitely qualified. Conchita should try again next year.
Christ, is it that high? I didn't realise they loved the contest so much.
yes but the population's so small that when Sjonni's Friends took to the stage last year around 90% of Icelanders were probably blood relatives of the band!
I'm guessing they've kept the start time at 9pm CET for tradition. Given how many more people would potentially watch it in the east if it started an hour earlier it's surprising really that they haven't already took the plunge. It's certainly not because of Iceland!

I wasn't a huge fan of Conchita, but she could have spent 3 minutes farting into a bucket and it still would have been superior to Trachsittaz.
Maybe not in numbers but I doubt there are many countries where ESC gets a 90+% audience share.
But it is all about numbers, (which is why Azerbaijan is forced to have the show finish ridiculously late) if Iceland had a population like the UK's and got it's numbers, then the needs of Icelanders would matter , but 90% of something not very much, is still not very much...(again, sorry Icelanders)...:D

I'm so excited for Anggun, she can really pull it off live! I hope all the promotion pays off.
Loved hearing the crown singing along to You & Me. I'm starting to think this might actually qualify.

Not a good move considering how much daylight there is in Iceland at that time of year.
Iceland's population is only 300k, so in the world of numbers, they're not that significant...(sorry Icelanders)...;)

Disappointed by the lack of the audience singing Facebook where she should be!
