Ahh the report that was hinted at last night just to let us know that someone was in the know I suspect.

Sounds like you had a really good time and a real shame that you didnt get to meet Boris, the highlight of the night. Are we going to see this DB photo then :D

I think you could have passed on a few hairdressing tips to Princess Anne, poor woman walking around with brillo pad type hair :D
What are you on about, Arte mentioned this whole thing ages ago, and more than once??? Unnecessary, IMO.
G'night campers...mwah...blows kisses and skips off to FB to check on nutter friend's ultra run...

I know she did and as I said I thought it wasnt until next week and nobody put me right after my query last night about a report, who even knew there was a report coming, thats what I am on about if thats ok with you.

Good job we can all have our own opinions then.

For those that are interested, read on, those that are not, give it a miss....:p

As we neared the Old Stadium, where the torch had arrived on it's last lap in Greece, we saw loads of people leaving it, some with Union Jacks, all with umbrellas. We managed to find a parking spot one street away from the Ambassador's residence, which was a minor miracle.

We got through security and they told us to get a badge at the top of the stairs. A lady appeared, introduced herself and said she would escort us to the Lounge. We were greeted by another lady, who stood us with 8 other people and told us not to move from the spot and someone would bring us drinks. We were puzzled by this but found out that we were 'proper' VIPs, we were in the VIP lounge and Princess Anne would be coming round to chat to us after the speeches. There were 5 groups of 10 people who had been selected for this 'honour'.

The Princess appeared carrying what looked like an old-fashioned lamp and set it on a plinth behind a bank of microphones. The Ambassador spoke for a minute or two, then the Princess, regular sort of speeches, then it was Boris's turn. He was hilarious and brought the house down, managing at one point to liken The Hoplites to the 'Hop-on-hop-off' London buses and got in a few more classical allusions, all very funny. The poor Greek minister for sport had to follow and kept it short and sweet. David Beckham was standing with them but didn't have to speak - a blessing, really.

After this Princess Anne did the rounds. She wasn't wearing a scrap of makeup, hair like a Brillo Pad, has lots of wrinkles but has an enviable girlish figure. We thought it would be a handshake, a couple of words and move on, but she spoke to us all at length and managed to look genuinely interested - she is very good at her job, I must say. She also laughed a lot and had asked that there would be no formality.

We really wanted to speak to Boris but missed him while we were being 'princessed', he was whisked off to a meeting quite early on.

We went to speak to some people we knew and they said that they had just seen David Beckham in the next room. He was surrounded by a huge crowd but I put my experience of boarding the Metro to good use and made it to the front. He was just leaving apparently and had turned to go. Although we were not allowed cameras, people were using their camera phones so Sam snapped me next to him. I told him that my children would never forgive me if I didn't get a photo so he slipped his arm round my waist and said "awwww, we mustn't disappoint the children". I wonder what he would have thought if he had known that my middle-aged children couldn't be less interested in him but I needed the photo for a bunch of ladies on my forum who have a bit of a crush...:D:D

After some canapes and a chat to several people we knew, we left, after a very pleasant evening.
I was bursting to hear about this. :D I had my nose pressed up against the television looking for you.
I know you were going, although I thought it was next week for some peculiar reason hence my question last night as to 'what report' but the poster couldnt be arsed to answer me.
I wasnt entirely sure myself because i didn't associate the word report with this olympic ceremony.
I am always delighted to hear about Arte's life but i wouldnt really describe it as a "report" because to me, a report is more about detail and facts, whereas her post described HER experience, which is why i enjoy her writing so much.

Had TVQ said "i cant wait for Arte's detailed description of the olympic event" then fair enough, but the post was hardly very informative and i thought the question very necessary, and it only needed a simple answer.
Of course it is possible that TVQ just missed her post, but based on her habit (for whatever reason) of not answering questions it is not unreasonable for Flora to take it as a deliberate snub.

I just don't understand it, I don't find him attractive to look at, I hate tattoos and his voice is a bit silly. He does indeed have a lovely family and he was very patient and charming last night while he was being jostled - he smelled gorgeous, too, a lovely citrussy scent....

I just googled it and it seems he wears "Erolfa" or his own "instinct"
I think Erolfa is more likely as it is described as..."This refreshing masculine scent possesses a blend of citrus, coriandre, basil and cedarwood. Erolfa is recommended for daytime wear. ":D

The marketing people who worked on that account should be shot - I'd never buy that without personal recomendation. Ridiculous name for a lovely scent.

You were right about the eye virus.

This is the stuff they gave me.
    http://www.patient.co.uk/medicine/Aciclovir-eye-ointment.htm

It's pretty painful when you put it in for 10 minutes.

No pain no gain, i suppose.

The instructions for applying it make it seem probably more complicated than it is. Did you manage it ok? and do you have decent sunglasses?

I will get my O/H to apply it when possible, if the eye gets a bit better it will be easier for me to do it.

I can't find my Sun glasses, had some from Specsavers but think i must have left them in a car i sold. a while back..
