There was the 1953 edition of Casino Royal for CBS Teleivision, plus 1967 version of Casino Royale (starring David Niven and Woody Allen), and the 1983 edition of "Never Say Never Again" with Sean Connery.
None of them is canon. Especially the ghastly, grave-robbing abomination, that is Never Say Never Again.
Not blown away by the trailer, doesn't seem to be a lot happening. But that might be a good thing, as I have been disappointed in the past by movies with brilliant trailers.
As for the younger Q, I like the idea. Ben Whishaw is 32 so he's not that much younger than Peter Burton who was about 40 when he played Q in Dr. No.
32 and 40 is quite a gap isn't it? I hope so anyway, I'm 32
She was hot... damn
I don't see anything wrong with a black Bond TBH - anyway its possible "James Bond" is just a codename that goes along with 007 so maybe its not his real name anyway.
Fine, as long as the studio does a remake of Shaft starring Hugh Grant in the title role
Maybe "Skyfall" is the name of some operation? I hope we dont get to see much more details of the plot though.
Sounds like code for the top falling. I'm assuming the primary focus will be Bond protecting M when MI6 is targeted - you can see her hair when he says that men are coming to kill them.
Just an idea
Were the book and early film Bonds canonically the same? I mean, in the films they never mention he looks different every so often when the actor changes

Have to say my jaw hit the floor when I saw that [teaser/preview] trailer! I've been a bit unsure about this new film - I wasn't (and still not) sold on the name and I wasn't that excited given what was 'Quantum of Solace' but this looks brilliant! Sure the teaser does the usual jump cut/flash stuff that you can barely see what the heck is going on but that said the atmosphere of the trailer –and hopefully the film – looks amazing! It certainly looks more 'Casino Royale' than 'Quantum of Solace' which is good imo. Mendes clearly knows what he is doing because that trailer is class! It is VERY atmospheric, well put together and unlike a lot of trailers out there it really doesn’t give a lot away, for which I am glad – I like a surprise ;D It’s certainly looking good – roll on October/November
Quick question: does anyone know the generic trailer music that is used from the start of the trailer? NOT the music that kicks in when the title ‘Skyfall’ appears (that’s clearly a new variation of the Bond theme that will hopefully feature on the soundtrack **fingers crossed**) I’m referring to the one that plays from the start up until the ‘Skyfall’ banner appears? I would love to get my hands on that music Thanks in advance
however i obviously don't know how trust their source is.
I've not heard that, but I have heard it rumoured that:
Bond will be the one who has to kill the other agents for some reason (hense the coffins seen in the trailer and his imprisonment and interrogation at the start of the trailer)
As well as there being rumours that:
M (Judi Dench) is leaving and will probably be killed off.
Apprently there is a new trailer knocking about for this new Bond film. Can't find it though, but hopefully it isn't long till we get to see it. Hoping that it is like the other one and doesn't give much away.
The only two things that are worrying me about this film are the name (still not sold on it) and the new 'Q'. I saw the picture in Empire magazine of the new 'Q' and I have to say he looks laughable. I know I shouldn't base it on looks - I don't know what the actor is like so i am willing to give him a chance - but his look appears to be a cross between Brains from Thunderbirds and Moss from The IT Crowd. Just because 'Q' is this clever, tech-wizz boffin doesn't mean that they should dress him like that, have the glasses etc, it just screams stereotype to me and cheapens the character imo. obviously i am only basing this on what I can see in the picture. I AM willing to give this new guy a chance and hope it comes across differently in the film, i would just hate it for them to go down the stereotypical geek route because 'Q' is supposed to be this clever tech guy. Rant over... The rest of the stuff from the film looks great though! I'm expecting a total eyegasm and me face to be melted... Roll on October.
On a lighter note, i love Craig's pose as Bond in the picture. He looks like he is thinking "Oh ffs, who is this guy?! What is all this rubbish, I just wanna get out in the field and smash some skulls" Love Craig's gritty portrayal as Bond. Hopefuly that new trailer will materialise soon!

Oh HELL YES.
"Agent?"
"Provocateur"

Nom, nom and thriceforth nom.
Some people might be put off getting the tube home from the cinema.

I've got a very, very good feeling about this movie. I think it could be superb, and I really hope I'm not wrong!
Same with Sherlock Holmes, Dracula, Tarzan etc

Either way, it looks chuffing promising.
The phrase "the sky is falling" triggered an attack on an MI6 office. All the agents were killed.

I was only watching that last week too, Towards the end of season 3 ...
And I never tied the two together ...
Nice catch!
NBC showed a tv spot. Featuring scenes from the second feature length trailer which is on it's way.

I turned 40 last week. Believe me, it feels like only yesterday I was 32. I feel about the same anyway.
What I meant was, its not as if Ben Whishaw is some 19 year old boy genius. That would be terrible.
If anyone should know that, Irma Bunt would.
You're right. Even though the films have a very sketchy continuity, each actor is clearly playing the same man.
looks good to me. After the disappointment of this summer's blockbusters, this looks like it could be 2012's best action movie!
