Do you do this when you lend your computer to someone else? Does this necessarily mean that you have something to hide or simply that you just want a bit of privacy?

Usually it means you've been looking at porn.

Other than my wife, when I let someone else use this I delete my browsing history. There may well be a few porn sites on there but that's not the only reason. There's just something I don't like about people knowing exactly what sites I was on at what time.

Indeed. There's just something about everyone knowing I was on this thread on Digital Spy at 13:04

I hand over my computer whilst saying 'I'm on Digital spy, so god knows what links I've pressed, they're nothing to do with me'.

It makes me laugh when I use the misters laptop and there's no history on there whatsoever. I just think to myself oooh someone was being a naughty boy and then tease him about it when he comes home lol

Yes, I would do this. I feel that someone looking at your browsing history would be the equivalent to looking over your shoulder when you're surfing the Internet.

Why would you when private browsing exists?

You started a thread once saying you didn't watch porn and didn't like it.

I delete mine, I have nothinig to hide I just think it is pointless keeping it in the history. Also if I have been looking at expensive clothes/handbags/shoes I delete them because he always moans about that even though I have no intention of buying them. Also if I have been looking at the Daily Mails website because I am ashamed to have that in my History.

If I have been looking for say my birthday present then I leave that in the history just to drop little hints.:D

I delete mine daily I thought that was what most people did, nothing to do with porn just keeps things tidy.

I have a furry beaver as my wallpaper. I'm not that bothered about people seeing which fanny sites I've been to. I'd be more inclined to give the keyboard a wash before they used it than anything else.

Yes, I always delete mine. I don't visit porn sites or any other sites that might raise a few eyebrows, but I still always delete it. I also delete my browsing history on my work computer, and the only sites I go to on there are work related.

That said, if my husband wanted to borrow my computer, I wouldn't be concerned about him seeing my browsing history.

My browser deletes my history every time it is closed on my password protected, encrypted laptop that no one else uses.

Hmm, I wonder where the 'nothing to hide/nothing to fear' brigade are.

Yes, I frequently delete browsing history to stop prying eyes if they decide they suddenly think they 'have a right' to spy on what I have been browsing.

If I remember I do. But the OH is even more useless with computers than I am, so she would not have a clue how to check browsing history.

    I can check hers though .... ;)

If you are 100% the sole user of your laptop as no one else ever uses it.........why 'password protected and encrypted'?

Do you really believe it cannot be hacked?

    Yep, 100% the sole user.

It can't be hacked by my family or friends so that's all I can do as I wouldn't have the expertise to protect it from the hardcore hackers.

I deleted mine (including the temporary files) before switching off the computer. I think this will free some space. Correct me if not.
