    Ok, I am fine with stuff like that, had plenty of experience with virgin.

    So what will the engineer need to do with my mac?

    He'll probably spend 3 hours wondering where the START button is then give up. :D

    As it is either going to be Ethernet or WiFi then there should be sod all to do. The most you'll need to do is enter the WiFi passcode when you first connect.

    Prove the connection works is pretty much it really. The guy who installed ours just loaded up bbc iplayer to show an hd stream worked. Top test eh?

    If you want a speed tester the bt one is quite accurate on the download speeds but tends to understate the upload for some reason

    Any speed tester can be cpu limited though which can be an issue on fibre with older kit like mine. Nothing beats running a big download from a fast server to see line speed IMO and don't forget to test using wired for best results.

    Its just to help people get connected if they are not savvy enough to do so.
