Unfortunately, Thatcher probably wouldn't even remember that she's supposed to say I can't remember. Not sure what Clegg can contribute as the Lib Dems weren't given the opportunity to prostrate themselves before Murdoch.
Interesting day, given that the Suns campaign against Gordon Brown started after Mr Osborne managed to pursuade James Murdoch & Rebekah Brooks to switch support to the tories.
Hopefully Mr Jay should have a interesting set of questions for Mr Osborne.

You have no reason to be certain that George Osborne did any persuading of anyone. That's just an assumption on your part.
Murdoch is no fool. He could probably see, like the rest of us, what an election liability Brown would be and decided for himself.

Not only can he see, he can read as well and it can't have escaped his notice that a week or so before Brown was dropped, one Jeremy Hunt wrote an article for the Sun that was very supportive of James Murdoch's views on broadcasting and withering towards the BBC - In short, a Murdoch papers dream article
With that in mind, I'm not sure that NI would have needed any more overt persuasion from George Osborne (or anyone else) that at least one senior Tory was very 'supportive' of their way of thinking...Particularly as Jeremy Hunt would presumably have had to have cleared his article for the Sun with the party leader* before it was published
* The same party leader that employed Coulson and was/is very pally with Rebekah Brooks...but I digress

And of course in September 2009 News Corps had no clue it would launch a multi million pound takeover bid within nine months and just one after the election.
That was just a cobbled together, unplanned and whimsical idea just happens to cross the mind of multi nationals every day of the week
Why the hell is Ed Millibland being called? And Nick Clegg for that matter? Their combined influence is less than that of a marble upon a tank.
I think an important aspect of the investigation is to question whether those politicians who did not have (and have not had) a supportive relationship with the Murdoch empire suffered politically as a result.
Recent examples could be John Major, Gordon Brown, Ed Milliband and Nick Clegg.
The attempt is being made to level the playing field. Absolutely right and about time.

The media are going to be in a frenzy.
Another bumper week for the popcorn industry
Indeed.:D
Remember Gordon, you're under oath.
As is Osborne.

And that is why I qualified my comment with "probably".
I think Major is on next week. Will probably come out well compared to his successors.
I agree, he has already spoken on the subject and came out with very wise words.
