Are they still getting taken over by that Green bloke if they are in the third division?
Well let's just say it shouldn't come as a shock to him. However one suspects he is as bent as a £3 note as well so watch this space.
However demotion to the third division is by no means a certainty.
I believe the NewCo will have to apply for SPL membership first so in theory could take the place of the "old" Rangers. However the impact this would have on the credibility of Scottish football would be massive. SPL chairmen please take note.
Realistically speaking, there's absolutely no way that Rangers will start next season in any league other than the SPL. However, it wouldn't surprise me if they end up starting on something like -30 points; a massive punishment and one that could potentially send them down next season, but that they could also claw their way out of trouble if they do well enough.
When is the date that the Scittish fixtures are due out?
I know in England it is this coming Monday, so perhaps this could have an effect on the date that the fixtures are announced??
just to let people know, when rangers get liquidated, all they players will be sold or released, they would have to sign a new contract with the new company, so basically all the good players will leave, if they are to remain then they would probably want the same wages or higher wages then before, can the new company afford these wages and attract new players that are spl quality, remember there no European football for three year and the new owner wouldn't want to make a loss with all that is going on at rangers so they will be very cautious with they finances.

what happens to Ibrox as the clubs biggest asset would the ground have to be sold ?

That seems a "fair" punishment I think. I understand that they're concerned about the revenue generated by Rangers and their fans for the SPL, but also that they want "justice" so that idea does seem to be the best of both worlds.
If "new" Rangers were forced to start in the bottom Scottish league could we see them attempting to get into the English Prem or Championship instead? It seems mad but it's been touted before for the big two to abandon the scottish league.

No it doesn't seem fair at all. Ask Gretna or Livingston or Airdrieonians.

And yes I'm aware it's a ridiculous notion.
They could try, but they will get a firm answer of "no", that much is for sure.

That's a good point. There's a tricky balance between applying the rules to Rangers as they would to any other team and not hurting the other teams in the process. I don't envy them that task.

Or ask Dundee, who got 30 or so points deducted for their own financial troubles a couple of years back. That's why I think Rangers will end up with a similar punishment, as it's something which has precedent and will hurt them without fatally wounding them or the rest of the SPL.

The rest of the SPL won't be "fatally" wounded. No more so than Rangers cheating their way to league title after league title over the last 15 odds years.
What will fatally wound Scottish football is if they are seen to "get away with it". How will any other football club be able to negotiate a line of credit with anyone when it can be seen that Rangers can remain in the division while leaving all their creditors high and dry? Everyone from the paperboy to the firm that sold them Davie Weirs farewell trophy are looking for their money yet Rangers remain in the SPL, still called Rangers, still playing in blue in front of a packed house at Ibrox with history and titles won still intact? Nope, that's not good enough I'm afraid.
Also worth noting that the Dundee situation was very different. The NewCo will be reapplying for SPL membership. Dundee were deducted points, rangers have already had that punishment.

Maybe - but if the choice was to start at the bottom of the Scottish game or the bottom of the English one it might be interesting to see if they decide to move anyway. If you're starting at the bottom no matter what....

i hate the thought of rangers coming into the english game. I dont know where it would end. Why would inviting rangers in be any different to inviting PSG for example? Rangers and Celtic have no place in english game.
Obviously im aware of the welsh clubs that are here but they have been here pretty much since our leagues were formed. They didnt opt into it because they saw a cash cow.

Gretna finished bottom of the SPL and Livi and Airdrie were already in the SFL when they went bust so not really a good comparison.
I still think Div 3 should be the answer with others moving up one,

If they were really starting at the very bottom of the English game (level 12 or something like that), then fine, but I don't think that they would be applying for that low down, (which is where any new club should start), will they?
If they want to just barge their way into the football league, then the answer should be a definate "NO"!
Why should they take another English clubs place?
Why are they more deserving than Wrexham (okay not English I know, but they did finish 2nd in the Blue Square Bet League, and as such would I think, be at most risk of Rangers coming in).
As I say, if they want to start at the very bottom, fine, but not any higher, but realistically, they will want to start as high.as possible, which is just plain wrong on every single level.
Why should Rangers be treated any differently to any other club who goes into liquidation? For years they have lived beyond their means and allegedly defrauded the taxman. They should be sent to the bottom of the pyramid just like any other club regardless of their history. Accrington Stanley, Fiorentina, Newport County all went bust and had to start again. Same thing should happen to Portsmouth too if they go bust. The rules are pretty clear for everyone. If they go back into the SPL I would expect legal action and possible UEFA sanctions.
so theoretically they should start right at the bottom of scottish football, does scotland have leagues below the 3rd division?
realistically they will still be allowed to stay in the top division and all the people they owe money to will be left screwed over.
junior leagues, regional leagues but no pyriamid system.
they wont be allowed to join the english leagues, they could probably try northern ireland. more likely they will be kept in the spl by the greedy chairman and that tosser doncaster whereas they should be in the 3rd division
I don't think they should be allowed into the 3rd division. There are a few Junior clubs that have been waiting for years to be in the SFL, why should 'newco Rangers' be allowed in automatically?

The question now is where will the NewCo fit in Scottish Football.
Lets see if people have the balls to punish properly. This is a watershed for Scottish football IMO. They have to get this right.
