I used to live just off Middleton road, near the Hunt Lane chippy. I don't think there's a chippy that i've been to since that was as good.:(
I used to visit customers on the Stakehill Estate, but they have relocated to Widnes now - it's like another bloody country there. A few miles down the road and I'm surrounded by 'dippers.
I was in the Europa suite after the QPR game and was sitting enjoying a post match chardonnay when the announcement came up that one of the players was coming up to meet the fans. The usual response of 'which reserve we have never heard of is being dragged up now?' went around [Diouf, Anderson and Lindegard have suffered this in my previous visits]
We were sitting next to the dias where the poor guy is usually pararded when the announcement came up. 'Ladies and gentlemen, we would pleased if you would oblige and let the children come up first and meet Paul Scholes'.
To my permament shame, I will admit that at least three or four 10 year olds were injured in my rush to the front of the queue to get his autograph.
I am 55 years old, but for those few seconds I was a child again.
I love it when you meet a player when you're completely not expecting it. The rush of wanting to tell EVERYONE in your phone book who you've just seen. I remember being in Boots in the Trafford Centre and M ringing me saying 'where are you in Boots Gary Pallister is at the Pharmacy counter'. GP is my big time crush and I literally tear-arsed up the escalator with no shame and hurled myself at him. I'm only 4ft 11in and GP is obviously a touch taller - it was wrong on so many levels!! It didnt help that I'd had my tea already and had spilt some on my top

I know how you feel, I once served Sir Bobby, as I was working on the tills at my local supermarket at the time, and I could see him waiting in the line, and I was sooooooo nervous, (as he is not exactly your run of the mill customer! ), and I forget what he was buying I just remember being soo nervous, and he packed his own shopping in a bag, and was very polite to me.
A true gent. (I was only young at the time as well, so he must have noticed that. )
The next week, I served Scott Gemmill (the ex Everton player), so a bit of a comedown! But he was nice also!
Ah tales of Boots and United players...............
I recall going to the Boots that was on Salford Precient in 1988, I was standing at the counter to buy something, not sure what, it could have been a computer game or something stupid. Anyway the guy in front of me was looking rather trying to act as casual as possible, collecting some photographs. I wasn't paying to much attention, till 2 or 3 assistants came out to see who was collecting the photo's and you knew they were staring. As the guy turned round, and take note this was January in the heart of Salford I noticed the guy had sunglasses on. As he sped off, I double checked and realised it was Clayton Blackmore flying out of the shop by now. The assistants were giggling and smiling, so I confirmed with them who it was, and then realised even more what was going on. It was just after the eventful trip to Bermuda, where certain alligations were made against Sunbed....... By all accounts the pictures were quite damming to say the least of some of the activities that took place.

Ahh the times when you had to get pictures "developed"!
I can just about remember them, although it is a stretch!

I have no idea what the allegations were, but a certain guy on our table at a recent do at OT could not get rid of him.
According to the Manchester Evening News, United have signed Exeter City young midfielder Sean Goss for £100,000, hope he isn't one of the two signings Fergie was talking about. lol.

I saw that on the Daily Mail site earlier, be interesting to see him in I presume the Academy matches this forthcoming season.

They just mentioned that on SSN. He's 16.
At least he's a midfielder. Someone on Red Cafe said he thought Fergie had forgotten what one of those is, he seems so verse to signing one! (one over 16, anyway! lol)

I doubt he's coming in as first choice. But you know what they say. If there's grass on the wicket, let's play cricket.

Other than the 2 he has already signed this summer.

He doesn't seem the sort of chap that would enjoy those sort of things.
I am glad that you enjoyed it, as well as a lot envious of you for it!

He has an interesting set of highlights too.
Is he related to Matt and Luke?

Some how i doubt it, but he might still be a decent singer.
