Subscribers should be getting the new DWM tomorrow (everyone else Thursday), so maybe the magazine will confirm an airdate for Series 7 or give us some bit of information that we didn't know about.
Doctor Who exec Steven Moffat has hinted at River Song's role in series seven.
The showrunner told MTV Geek that River (Alex Kingston) will appear in the sci-fi drama's next run.
However, Moffat added that series six of Who - which revealed the character to be the daughter of Amy (Karen Gillan) and Rory (Arthur Darvill) - already covered the "big River Song story".
Discussing River's return in episode five of the new series, exec producer Caroline Skinner said: "She's so the queen of mischief in this episode."
Moffat also commented on the departure of both Amy and Rory, which will also occur in the New York-set episode five, and the later introduction of Jenna-Louise Coleman's new companion.
"When you start that story [of the companion] again, you've got a fresh take on it," he said. "You've got someone who's bemused by him, who doesn't know he has two hearts, and you meet him again through their eyes."
The writer previously claimed that the departure of Gillan and Darvill does "not necessarily" rule out further adventures with the River Song character.
Is anyone really surprised by this?
Series 6 told us everything we needed to know about River and with Amy/Rory leaving and Clara arriving, it probably makes more sense that we'll see less of her, rather than more in Series 7 and beyond.
And I know some are going to disagree with me, but I really don't think she'll appear on the show part Moffat's era. In fact I could see her witnessing Eleven regenerate into Twelve before heading off to the Library.
That being said, I do hope see Singing Towers properly though.
SM's Production notes are a bit more informative he gives a rundown of all 14 S7 eps. 1-5 are finished to nearly finished production wise (he says ep 4 has a couple of scenes that they are picking up later) ep6 christmas special hasn't been shot yet and as of July 6 when he wrote the notes he hadn't finished writing and was a month away from filming (so look out on August 6th I would have though. Ep 7 (6 of S7) is being written by SM (when I say written I think he's hoping it magically appears). Ep 8 (7) Being written 9 (8) is being filmed (as of July 6th). 10 (9) has been shot and is very scary. 11(10) is being shot (1 week in as of july 6). 12 (11) was on its 4th draft and 13-14 (12-13) are supposedly being written.
Steven Moffat gives an update on the production status of all the Series 7 episodes in the new issue of Doctor Who Magazine. A few interesting little hints are shared.
1. Asylum of the Daleks – Shot, picture-locked. Music and SFX being added. Moffat teases: “I’ve just seen the new… never mind.”
2. Dinosaurs in Space – Shot, picture-locked. Moffat says you will gasp at the special effects.
3. A Town Called Mercy – Shot, picture-locked. About to be time dubbed.
4. Shot (bar a few pick-up scenes), still to be edited. Moffat describes it as “Unusual” and it contains, “One of the best and most touching scenes ever we’ve shot.”
5. Shot, picture-locked. Murray Gold may “kill you”.
Christmas Special – Moffat’s handed in the 5th draft of the script and semi-jokes they’ll be 20 more. Saul Metzstein will be directing this one as well.
6. To be written by Moffat. He’s finished 22 pages of it, so far.
7. 10 pages complete, from another writer.
8. Shot and being cut. Presumably, Mark Gatiss’ first script of the series. Moffat says the sets are amazing and teases: “Prepare to shiver in terror and gasp along the lines of ‘Oh my goodness, is that a…?’”
9. Shot and nearly picture locked. From a new writer. Presumably the Neil Cross episode and it’s been shuffled.
10. Mark Gatiss’ second episode of the series. Moffat says it’s “Insane.” Directed by Saul Metzstein.
11. No details other than, “Fourth draft.”
12. Two-thirds complete on a writer’s computer in a “distant land”.
13. Finale – Moffat appears to be writing the big one (surprise), but hasn’t got very far yet.

A few thoughts there - 1) the SWD isn't new, unless 2) it's not the SWD as we know it, but a re-imagined one, and 3) surely he would have seen the designs for it before they finished shooting the episode?

Agreed, it would almost have to be something created in post-production if he's seeing it for the first time. Opening titles are a good guess.

None of which invalidates my suggestion. He's teasing fans in DWM so is hardly going to write "Watched Asylum. Got bored (was involved in the production so had already ok'd every design)."

No, I dare say he wouldn't. I'm sure he would have had something else to say instead.
Forgot to add to my earlier post, 4) it would require the SWD to be CGI, something the other Daleks aren't. Sure, he could be commenting on the new explosive effects, but that's not quite the same.
Reading DWM 450, there's some more interesting bits to behold.
- Matt says that there's stuff his Doctor can do/say with Clara that he couldn't with Amy.
- There will be an eighth series but in 2014 in which Moffat teased Matt to 'prepare to cry'.
- Chris Chibnall was meant to write an episode for the second half of Series 7 but couldn't due to Broadchurch.
- The fourth episode of Series 7 is big on Amy/Rory before their final adventure with the Doctor.
There's also some dialogue bits released ...
Rory (to the Doctor): Why can't you just phone ahead? - Dinosaurs On A Spaceship
The Doctor: There is so much to see, Amy - and I don't want to miss it. Any of it. Because it goes so fast. I'm not running away from things. I'm running to them. Before they flare and fade forever - Cubed
Clara: Wake up! Open that thing! - unknown episode.

My work here is done:D

Do you reckon 1 refers to the opening titles?
I'd go with Special Weapons Dalek.
I did consider it, especially considering Jenna-Louise Coleman would be a bit of a squeeze, I would have thought.
Doesn't have to be a major change.

She'd be a great squeeze!
Awwwwww.... I hope not.:( I liked the fact it looked like it was on its way out!

Who?
Correct
Nice to see Firefly get a mention on that cover as one of the 25 greatest cult series.
Also from DWM 450 ...
Not a whole year of specials, we've got 8 episodes being aired in Jan/Feb time :P
The impression I get is we get those eight episodes early in 2013 and then a series of specials leading to the 50th anniversary.
Oh and apparently Moff asked Matt is he was ready to cry for Series 8 in 2014.
