Avatar - only 3D film I fell asleep during. Although it did pick up in final act.

Maybe the final act was the part you dreamt. ;)

PS - I'm alright with Avatar, even if I can see validity in some of the criticism it receives.

The Shawshank Redemption - most of my friends list it as one of their top 5 films but I don't rate it that highly.

I love Movies , but theres been a few critically acclaimed and popular ones that i have tried to enjoy but couldnt...

Alien ( first one) , Inception , Avatar , Blade Runner, tinker tailor soilder spy, Lord of the rings ( all of them)

p.s Avatar = worst of the lot . Blade runner is a good film to watch if i have trouble sleeping and if i still cant fall asleep -- tinker tailor spy will make sure .

Love Actually. I really can't bear it. My dp really enjoys it though.

My favourite film is Hope and Glory (John Boorman).

Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy - Everybody pretended it was a "smart" film. The reality is its the most confusing piece of crap I've ever seen. Only gets good after a third viewing. Even then it doesn't do itself or its cast any justice.

A 1993 film with Michael Douglas, Falling Down, directed by Joel Schumacher seems to be reasonably well though of. I only continued to watch it to marvel at how unbelievable it was.

I couldn't sit through Die Hard.

Generally if I've no specific interest in seeing a film I won't watch it, resulting in me not having seen some really big movies.

King Kong (watched all versions, they were all just really average).

After I had finished watching Brokeback Mountain, all I could think was 'that's 2 hours of my life I'll never get back!'

Ooh, there are a few really popular films that I can’t stand:
    • Pirates of the Caribbean
    • The Lord Of The Rings
    • Pulp Fiction
    • Moulin Rouge (I had to walk out after the first half an hour)
    • Blade Runner
    • 2001: A Space Odyssey
These are not just films I wasn’t too keen on. I found them utterly dreadful and terrible.

Casablanca - tried to watch it as it is known as a classic but did not enjoy it at all. Didn't think it was much of a romance either.

Lord of the rings - tried reading the books and watching the films, but both were far too descriptive with not much plot line for me.

I half-wondered if I was the only person in the world who doesn't like The Shawshank Redemption, so I'm pleased to see others mention it here. It's far too sentimental for me, and it's not that interesting as films go.

Not exactly popular but it got rave reviews: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Bored me to tears, I just didn't get the whole concept of the film and I thought it didn't deserve the positive reviews it generated. I also thought Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet had absolutely no chemistry going on, such an odd pairing. Such a boring film.
