Little is known about John Paul's return storyline, but it is thought that he will be back on screen in time for Christmas and remain back in the village for the foreseeable future.

John Paul is remembered as one of Hollyoaks' most popular characters, and his relationship with Craig Dean (Guy Burnet) resulted in a significant fanbase of 'McDean' supporters.

Sutton played the role between 2006 and 2008. In 2009, he was cast as Emmerdale's Ryan Lamb and appeared as the village mechanic until April 2011.

In recent months, the 29-year-old has made appearances on a number of shows including Holby City, Scott and Bailey and Bedlam, as well as launching his own pop-up acting company Broken Leg Workshops.

Sutton had often said that he was open to returning to Hollyoaks for the "right" storyline and entered talks with the programme's chiefs earlier in the year.

Great to have him back, although without Craig it might compromise the sunset ending they got?

I hope a few more familiar faces return from BK's first era.

Loved hannah and original clare but she was bloody awful last time she came back, she had such a great exit as well

If he went anywhere near Ste or Doug he'd be definitely ruined. Plus wasn't Ste a wife beating maniac last time he was around?

As soon as I read this I thought the Bryan Kirkwood effect is back at Hollyoaks, excellent news as JP was a very popular character for the show tho only hope his return can be as successful as the first stint, I wonder what will happen of Craig??, If JP is back on a permanent basis which it says he is then it looks like they have either spilt or perhaps Craig dies :eek: or could Guy Burnett be returning as well??

Ha yeah was all bad for the barnes family... ones boyfriend was the others boyfriend was beating her up and the dads girlfriends was one day going to be his daughters!

James is also dating Jessica Fox IRL i believe.
