Certainly different from my order - I thought Asylum the weakest by some way of the five stories, with Angels the best, followed by A Town Called Mercy, then Dinosaurs, then Power of Three.
Is it just Jenna-Louise Coleman's surprise appearance that makes people like Asylum so much? I just wonder because I didn't know it was her, and seem to have liked it less than most, so possibly a connection?

For me Asylum had everything I want from a Doctor Who episode, helped no end by the fact the Daleks were back to being almost scary. It was a good story, a nice twist at the end, and a slight tug on your heart strings. I also liked Angels for much the same reasons, however the story doesn't hold up to basic scrutiny so isn't as good as Asylum.
Of the remaining 3, Dinosaurs was the only one which felt complete. Mercy was a good premise, but it didn't feel properley executed. Whereas Power was awful, truly awful. It built up to an invasion which was solved by the Doctor waving his sonic over it. I felt a bit cheated by it in honesty.
I don't think anyone is saying that Asylum is best Doctor Who episode of recent times, but it was the best of the pretty lacking bunch we had.

Well, there we go. Certainly not the first time opinions have been very different on here, and it won't be the last.

It's funny but I seem to have differing opinions to most hardcore fans. I read the novels, and all the ones I 've loved have been panned, and vice-versa

Agreed. And DOAS had some really interesting new characters.
