Legendary reggae presenter David Rodigan has resigned from Kiss after Bauer's continual marginalisation of the Reggae genre on the station.

Agreed or a specialist show on Jazz FM. There's also the possibility of Rinse FM at a stretch who I'm sure would love his services despite catering to a youth audience.
It appears to be a gap that's not filled.

. His Radio 2 shows were just brilliant.
Specialist music shows have already been cut to the bone at BBC London and that was already before DQF was implemented.
Currently it's down to Jazzie B on Fridays from 8-10pm which is either going to be moved or axed for the Mark Forrest networked show from Leeds.
Saturdays is where the rest are, Gary Crowley presents the nostalgia slot from 12-2pm and BBC Introducing from 7-10pm.
Managing Editor David Robey has already said that BBC London is a predominantly speech station and I can't see that changing, although Rodigan would be an excellent signing.
He had free reign on his reggae show, but the show was shunted to anti-social slots.
However here's a scoped aircheck from AircheckDownloads.com from 1999 when Emap took full control of the station and made him play mainstream crossover dance and RnB.

No, he had a daytime show on Kiss for many years, that's what that aircheck is. He did Lunchtimes, drive and Breakfast over the years aswell as his specialist show.
The point being is that after Emap took over, the playlist changed and had to play pap like that which was THIRTEEN years ago! Re-listen to the first link.
Funniest thing I've seen all year.
Your spectrum is about the width of a Tube tunnel, isn't it? You really shouldn't assume the majority of people have similarly puerile taste.
I love this bit:
He is a multiple winner of Sony radio awards but was moved to a midnight slot on the Bauer Media-owned station, in order to accommodate a show hosted by the singer Craig David.
That's commercial radio's idea of specialism, folks! What a vacuous, braindead industry.
While I agree that moving Rodigan for Craig David is wrong, it's wrong of you to tarnish the whole commercial radio industry which for some brands still have specialist music shows for the actions of the Kiss PD and Bauer management in this instance
That's from his drivetimeshow as I said, not his specialist show... Whilst at Capital Rodigan covered many daytime slots too.
I couldn't agree more.
Turns out its 1Xtra and another 13-part series on Radio 2. The new 2-hour Sunday evening show on 1 Xtra starts 17 February.
