He is now outselling the #2 song 9 to 1. That's probably the biggest difference ever on iTunes history.
I wouldn't pay too much attention to that : the actual sales figures should be the most revealing. Matt Cardle's song for example sold 800k copies, so it should be very interesting to see how James Arthur's figures compare

It's difficult to compare like that, people download illegally more and more.
But if he manages 500k+ in the first two weeks he's done very very very well.

Well that's only two years ago and I believe that figure of 800k copies was for the month of December 2010 only. As I said, it'll be interesting to see how well James sells and how he compares to previous winners.
Didn't Little Mix open with 250kish last year? That was far down on 2010, so it'll be interesting to see if it goes down again to conform with the ratings.
Also the percentages don't tell the whole story, Locked Out of Heaven is at #3 even though it's been out for a month so it may just be a low sales week.

I would think load of people would have sympathy for the Hillsborough families so they'll buy that one
Sure it will sell well, but the money is going is being raised to pay lawyers.... seems a strange concept to me for xmas num 1. the money it'll raise cannot be more than 1 million. paul mccartney could have gave the families that himself.
why the public should pay lawyers via a 'charity' single mentioning hillsborough to get xmas num 1 i don't know.
he is outselling no.2 by more then 10:1 on itunes and on amazon he is number 1 in the singles and no.3 on the mp3 albums which is good because album sales are quite high at the moment, physical single is no.26 on pre-orders. Could sell at least 300-350k perhaps up to 450k

That gap though  Surely that's an iTunes record?
They may not be aiming for Xmas #1 anymore but it could still happen
What, the song that is raising money for charity?
You mean a charity song by a guy whose just won a singing competition on TV by a huge margin? Quite a lot of people I'm guessing.

it got a boost cos he played on graham norton.
Little Mix have the 2nd worst winners single in terms of numbers since Steve.

Does it really matter? This time next year he'll have flopped like most other winners.
they're aiming that for xmas no1 so, perhaps next monday?
Will it? This charity is for children, the hillsborough thing is to pay lawyers.

Yup, "Impossible" just made iTunes chart history by outselling the song at #2 by more than 10 to 1. It's the first song to do it.
1 James Arthur Impossible 1.00000
2 will.i.am Scream & Shout (feat. Britney Spears) 0.09375
What will happen next, only the music deities know...
So - why does that matter?
We need more too! James fans gather and post reviews!
Chart threads in several fora are predicting bigger first-week sales than Cannonball.
