Dye job. I took from it that she went through some kind of character change but given her age that's not unusual. Many blonde teen girls go through a phase of not liking the fact that they're blonde (well I did!) because people tend to treat you like you're quite 'cutesy'; thus they want to be seen as a bit more 'edgy' or rebellious. I never actually dyed all of my hair black but some go in for an image change like that. Maybe we're meant to take that from it or perhaps it reflected a darker mood - as you say, it was suggested that she self-harmed.

Yeah i wouldn't put her changing her hair colour down to anything out of the ordinary either. It was suggested she self harmed but given we know now the autopsy was fabricated as suicide, and know about the gory nature of what happened in the shipyard, there's got to be an element of doubt to what caused those scars and when.
Right. So the image change could be put down to a normal teen mini-rebellion phase. And not have any dark undertones.

But on the other hand - in the blonde photo she is smiling. She doesn't smile in the dark hair photos. The school photo is striking because all the other kids are happy. I thought she was after the Goth look - but at 13? That does seem young doesn't it. I think something awful happened to her in the home. And it changed her. Especially if Reinhardt did abuse his position of power to get at vulnerable girls.

13's not too early for that to kick in BK. But I can't remember what her friend or her foster parents said about her personality and how she'd changed, for the happier?
There was a short conversation about The Killing on Radio 4 this morning. Mr RP listened to it - I missed it.:(

I managed to find a link but it's only 6mins long - can't find the rest.
Apparently, Soren the writer, carries on writing the script as the series goes along. He doesn't know who the culprit is until the end. I knew the actors didn't know but not that the writer didn't know either!!:p

I didn't realise Soren makes it up on the hoof either. :D:D

    Off out shortly, laters. :)

Now would be a good time for a sleeps countdown to the finale from halloweenbabe.

Thanks :) I saw in an interview with Sophie ages ago and she said he does that, sort of explains the red herrings in some way...?

I meant that it could be either of the two. Like I said at the end, it may go hand in hand with her self-harming i.e. it might reflect her unhappiness. And yes she does look glum in the 2nd photo which would tie up with that.

Yes I recall that this was mentioned during one of the previous series - not just that the actors didn't know but that he only writes a couple of eps ahead all the time. As Chloe says, this probably explains some things that confuse us - he's working so fast that he most likely hasn't thought it through in intricate detail. :)

Yep, I got that, wasn't disagreeing with you. Sorry if that is how it came across.

Probably will be left open to viewer interpretation. If we don't get a detailed description of what happened to Louise whilst she was in the care home. Her foster dad said she had been in several foster homes previous(after the home closed). But couldn't settle. She had settled in Gudbjerghavn. But that was as far as he went. Katja said Louise wasn't suicidal. Nothing more.

Well, one option is to see Sofie Gråbøl and Mikael Birkkjær (aka Ulrik Strange, TK II) in a series of adverts for Austrian insurance company Wiener Städtische: http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=Wiener+Stadtische+Sofie&oq=Wiener+Stadtische+Sofie&gs_l=youtube.12...12186.13165.0.16102.2.2.0.0.0.0.72.124.2.2.0...0.0...1ac.1.bvb2XzxijWQ

Unfortunately, these ads are all in tysk/German which means that someone else will have to do the translating.

I read this today. If you're in London on Monday (17th) and see a Sarah Lund lookalike (you have to follow clues on twitter) you could win a Lundesque jumper!

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-2247065/Liked-Sarah-Lunds-sweater-The-Killing-Now-WIN-jumper.html

Don't be scared that it's a Daily Mail link :)

Could this be the surprise that someone posted on this thread a while back?

Look what I found - about £100 cheaper than the original Gudrungudrun sweaters but still pricey. Were this not a recession Christmas the blue one would be on my list..

    http://faroeborn.com/category/womens-clothing/

I do think men would look a bit Val Doonican in them.
Just did Google images for Val Doonican and Lund is on the first page!

I doubt Søren will fill in all the blanks. We may be doing that ourselves for some time after the finale has aired. How did skurk find out his daughter was killed in the first place for example. Was he tipped off or did he smell something fishy in the official line and start looking into her death?

I just think it was the sailor Vic wanting to change his statement about louise that started the ball rolling (though how he'd have found out about that I don't know)- as a result the computer with the encryption for Zeeland security was stolen etc etc
    CubicEyes wrote: »
Been thinking about the fact that Louise was chosen as the 'star' of Ussing's poster campaign to promote foster parenting two and a half years ago.

I'm not totally sure how it's significant, but I have a very strong hunch that it is. Even though the campaign was cancelled after Louise was found dead, I can't help thinking that somehow either the photo session out of which the posters or leaflets came, or the leaflets themselves, somehow set off the chain of events that led to Louise's death.

Did someone recognise Louise's likeness to one of her parents? Or did they recognise Louise from a previous appearance she had made in a different context - in a child porn video perhaps, or at a paedophiles' party? Or did Louise herself - while at the photo session or during some sort of publicity activity for the campaign - recognise somebody from the government whom she'd encountered in less savoury circumstances?

However that bit of the plot worked, we still have to see what the video of the campaign featuring Louise turns out to contain. (It was promised to Borch at the end of episode 7, but then - as usual - he and Lund had to rush off somewhere).

But I would be willing to place quite a big bet on the possibility that the solution to this mystery hinges on that campaign in some way, and the unwelcome light of publicity which it threatened to throw on something which had been kept very much a secret up to then.

By the way, there's somebody in a navy woolly hat and oilskins lurking in the background and fiddling with a large container while Lund is finishing her conversation with Birthe. The person is out of focus so it's hard to be sure, but he(?) does look a bit like the 'Swedish sailor'. Soren having fun with us again, or a clue?

All good points there square eyes, the fact that she was the star of the campaign and the links can't be a coincidence surely?
Did a rewatch of episodes 1-8. Reinhardt, Stoffer, Karen, PET Chef,Ussing and Rank all look dodgy. Borch seems totally not dodgy. If you look at him as under orders to do all he can to find Em, but steer Lund away from the black car.

Carsten lurks a lot in the background. He obviously distrusts Robert and doesn't like Maja having anything to do with him. With good reason as it turns out.

Juncker looks like a young man who wants to change the world. He deserves his own show.

Couple of other things I noted:-

Brix is talking about the Medea to Robert and Maja in their house(in episode 2) - just after Em has been kidnapped. He says the ship has been brought in. It was outside the harbour. I took this to mean that the Medea has been docked?

Also in episode 2(37mins in) Juncker is interviewing the prostitutes in the police station. He calls over a striking blonde lady. To say she is well endowed is an under statement. Borch's eyes nearly pop out. Fare to say he isn't paying attention to what Sarah is saying to him. Very funny. I wonder if Søren is a fan of the Carry On films?:D:D

Good work there BK, and finding Denners a series mysterious blonde lady at last! :p

**Scandinavia related** ~ This documentary 'The Last Battle of the Vikings' was broadcast in Scotland on the BBC last night: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b01p9fwg/The_Last_Battle_of_the_Vikings/ It's all about the Scots vs. the Norwegian Vikings in the Battle of Largs.

Obviously now it's on iplayer for the rest of Britain. I'm glad 'cause I was disappointed that they denied it to the rest of us.

Yep. TLP has but forward a believable alternate theory that could explain the hair colour. So we shall have to wait and see. Katja said Louise wasn't suicidal. And her foster dad said she had settled down in West Jutland.

Maybe Chloe could post a screen grab of Louise's wrists. Sarah shows the pathologist a photo of them. The pathologist explained them as self inflicted. But she of course was lying about the details of the young girls death. Could they be marks from ligatures? Victor had marks on his wrists from when he was held. But his wounds were fresh and very red.

Ep 3 around 33mins in is when Sarah shows the pathologist the photos. They look like scars that have healed to me? ie Louise was self harming. Could it be before she went to Jutland. And she had stopped because she had found a safe place and had settled.

I expect you to nod off at the start. And wake up at the end to see Sarah and Borch walking down the aisle. With Em and Eva as bridesmaids. And Brix shouting and cheering as the emotions get to him.

Genuinely excited about the finale for this tonight! And for Boardwalk Empire, but that can wait till tomorrow, cos TK3 has built up some momentum in the last couple of weeks. The 2 best programmes on TV have their climaxes on the same night(!) :D

Hoping for a satisfactory ending (by satisfactory I mean not too many unanswered questions), not really bothered if it's a positive or sorrowful ending for the Zeuthens, so long as it's believable.

I'm glad we're past all the political backbiting and to-ing and fro-ing (the only irritating aspect of TK) and the last 2 episodes tonight should be all about jigsaw pieces falling into place.

Thanks to all the regular contributors on here, this is one of the best threads on DS, and a daily read is a must for me.....after this thread winds down (I reckon at least a fortnight away!), a re-watch of TK1,2 & 3 is in order ;)

Who cares about the Zeuthens - what about Sarah? :D I hope she doesn't get killed off but I doubt she will. Other than that not sure what I would like to see happen to her - I'm sure Sveistrup will have written something that fits.
