Most people wont care about a badly placed thumb or a heal lead, but they do care if they felt entertained.
Most people will be able to tell better dancing from worse, so long as the difference isn't so small that something like a badly placed thumb or heel lead makes all the difference. In SCD, the difference is almost never that small.
