Drug drama Breaking Bad has dominated the television nominations for the Writers Guild of America (WGA) Awards, leading the way in five categories.
So will a UK broadcaster finally show this?
(Come on Sky Atlantic, this would be a great fit).
Was reading that the trouble is the makers are wanting that much money and a hell of a lot have seen it either through DVD or Netflix that is not deemed as commercially viable for any body to pick it up and show it
I can't believe this thread only has 4 pages. Have just watched it all in about a month. The best character development I have ever scene in a TV series....good and evil! Bring on July!
I'd have thought most people who want to see it will already have seen it myself.
I think there will be enough "casual" viewers who have heard about it at work etc who might fancy watching it rather really wanting to see it for the channel to take a risk and buying it.
Seeing it on TV when looking for something to watch thinking "oh Johnny was talking about that, Will see what the fuss is about"

I think that might be true if it was on Terrestrial, but tucked away on some weird new channel I'm not so sure.

They need to get some decent advertising to tell people its on for sure.
But word of mouth might help as well. People who have watched it and who know people who have not watched it might just see its on and say something.
With them showing Sons Of Anarchy as well and it being a great show which people might not have seen and word of mouth about a channel showing it and then they see BB is on as well might help.
Its not going to be a massive success but it might be enough to give the channel a decent shot of getting its name out there
I think you know what I meant. Channels 1-5 still get huge ratings because that's what people are used to. Tiny little channels tucked away on Freeview don't get much in the way of big audiences.
I think it will struggle, because it's one episode a night, with from the look of the schedules I've seen, no repeats. It's too big a commitment for most people.

It will no doubt be helped by cross-channel trailing, by Spike's C5 stable-mates.
From what I've read, Spike will feature such gems as Celebrity Lip-synch Battle, Tattoo Disasters, and numerous 'hilarious' YouTube epic fail vid shows - trash TV at its best. Seems like meth boys Jesse and Walt will be pearls before swine.

Pearls after swine, it's not being shown until 11pm.
Anyway, Spike has other critically acclaimed drama (Justified, Sons of Anarchy, The Walking Dead) and other less critically acclaimed drama (Under the Dome, Olympus), but they need other shows to fill the schedule.
It is great that Breaking Bad is coming to the new channel Spike (replacing Viva).
I have never seen the show but I was considering buying the DVD boxset.
Great news

That's not Walt... It's Heisenberg...
A new free-to-view channel, Spike, will show the award-winning series in its entirety when it launches on Freeview, Freesat and Sky TV on 15 April.
Good old Channel 5!

The fact that 5m households won't get the channel won't help though.
Why - is it not available on Freeview-Lite or something?

I have never seen Breaking Bad, but have heard many good things about it. I'd hate to miss the early episodes.
