BIB: I've thought along the similar sort of lines as you - thinking of celebs and putting them with professional partners. I've come up with quite a list - I have people in there like Frankie Dettori and Sophie Dahl although I sort of think some of my list is quite sport orientated (well, I say sport, I mean tennis - I've even got Boris Becker in my dream 2012 series:D)
I say go back to just 12 for the series, with those twelve being-
Jane Asher (Glamorous actress) to dance with Artem Chigvintsev
Fern Britton (TV Presenter) to dance with Brendan Cole
Rachel Hunter (Supermodel & yes, I know she's done DWTS but that was a long time ago and she learned three dances) to dance with Ian Waite
Charlie Brooks (EastEnders superbitch) to dance with Darren Bennett
Christine Ohurougo (She can be the token Olympian- we've had a current athlete after both Olympics so far) to dance with Matt Cutler
Heidi Range (Pop Singer) to dance with Vincent Simone
Duncan Bannatyne (Left of field choice) to dance with Kristina Rihanoff
Jonathan Edwards (Retired Olympian) to dance with Erin Boag
Russell Watson (Opera tenor and "journey" contender) to dance with Natalie Lowe
James Thornton (Potential ringer and minor soap star) to dance with Katya Virshilas
Ricky Hatton (Ex-Boxer and people's favourite) to dance with Flavia Cacace
Tony Discipline (EastEnders star- another "journey contender") to dance with Aliona Vilani
Richard Armitage has said he can do a mean Argentine Tango
*faints at the thought*:D
I'd still add Gareth Malone:D some journalist in the Daily Mail said that the audience were shouting very loudly "I love you Gareth" on Saturday night;) as she was in the audience
my goodness, that's not very ladylike, that wouldnt have been me at all:o:o

Ooh yes I'd add Gareth Malone too and I wouldn't be ladylike either
Richard Armitage is pure fantasyland as I don't think he'd ever do it and actually I'm not sure I could cope with watching him Argentine Tango
Oh for goodness sake - start discussing this next summer not before the end of this series,
They have probably started recruiting for next year now anyway, but the sooner we say names the sooner we might have even some tiny chance of them making it in there, especially if it's anyone who has anything approaching a busy schedule.
I would like to see Lorraine Pascale do it. Currently a TV cook and had quite a high profile doing that this year but she is a former model, and I can imagine she might have a nice natural poise.
Do we DSers have any influence on who takes part? I have no idea. For at least two years I've been hoping Simon Webbe would take part, and he's now in the Xmas special, and maybe he will "do a Harry" and move from taking part in some sort of special into the main show. Did I have any influence on him being asked? Maybe not, but it's a nice thought that maybe in some tiny way I just might.
I'd love to see a snooker player like Ken Doherty or Ronnie O'Sullivan. The latter is always saying he'll quit snooker anyway, so here would be a nice new challenge for him .
I know we had Willie Thorne before, but I'd like to see a younger snooker player, who could be a contender.
Besides that, another vote for Dawn French, Jennifer Saunders and Richard Armitage!

Out of the 4 I think Rick Astley is most likely.
