Interesting, engaging, informative, no silly camera movements, back to form. Why are they axeing this program again?
As Jay Hunt - she's the daft bint who thinks that C4 must be dumbed down and that a programme won't attract an audience if there aren't a number of 'yoof' presenters.
Just finished watching it now, it's back to what made it really interesting! Such a shame it's the last series. Maybe someone will have a change of heart?
It was very good and a nice mix of all aspects, including the foul garum! It did miss Mick though, who always brought colour to a dig.
However, I suppose it is hard to be novel after 20 years and maybe a renewed prog in ten years will find us all older, but still enthusiastic. It has brought archaeology/history to a wider audience just as Patrick Moore did with the Sky at Night.
Great show, and some cracking finds. Sad that as it returns to its usual format, it is in its final series, but some day maybe C4 or another channel could revive the prog.

Mick's jumpers are legendary.
You're right about bringing archaeology to the wider audience and it's done a lot of good, it taught many not to disturb anything should they find something that looks interesting, how much has been destroyed by those who knew no better and just dug things up willynilly?
I'm very saddened that the current series is going to be the last, it's been a gem in Ch4's crown. Maybe if the viewing figures are high, they'll have a bit of a rethink. They've dropped the unnecessary female presenter and, from what I've read, hiring her was one of the reasons why Mick Aston left. I can't verify that fact so please don't challenge me on it. It's gone back to basics and, for me, it's a big success.
But they were still walking the field with other equipment.
Can't remember the Quad Bike.
From what I remember. It was a couple of years ago and I think had been brought over from Sweden. It could have been a "buggy" rather than quad. It had the survey equipment fitted into it but it rained heavily so everything stopped working.
I can never understand why they don't do the geophysical survey a day or so before the dig whilst the area is clear. Last night there was a blank area where they either had tents or vehicles parked. They could still have some done during the programme in areas where more detail was needed so something to be incorporated into the programme.

I think she was brought in at a bad time and not used properly. There must have already been discontent amongst the team, not fair to blame it all on her. Perhaps they thought Tony Robinson wanted to leave or to do less.

She was brought in because the silly people at the top wanted to bring in a 'pretty token female' to present a show that doesnt even need Tony Robinson let alone another presenter.
My feeling was Mick was just about fed up with all the BS around this decision and the actual lack of archaeology in general. Also in recent years i could detect mick was getting fed up of Tony for talking crap, to him, and most of the show in general.

Pity, it was a cracking show in it's day.
She had the necessary qualifications but was not just used properly. She could have been given more useful things to do and then been accepted by the team so be there if Tony Robinson dropped out in the future.

If you liked the "old" style of Time Team then this will be to your taste.:)

It was certainly to my taste, hopefully the surplus to requirements female presenter has been dispensed with. A cracking first of series.
No subtle acoustic guitar and no Time Team theme at the end.
About time too.
Anyone know if it's repeated?
This one (Roman Dig at Brancaster) is on 4seven Monday 7th at 7pm and again on 4seven on Saturday 12th at 4pm.

More successful that the one they had built into a quad bike (I think) which failed completely because of the weather from what I remember.
We can but hope.

Is Mick doing any of them?
It really don't know why they don't rest it for a few years.
