Hey all, I had a nice new x-box for Christmas, never having really used a console before I was pretty chuffed with it.
I noticed it had 3 USB ports and thought I could just pop a USB stick into one and have a look and some photos, but when I did that, the 360 didn't see the stick at all. What did I do wrong?

For game installation you need one that's fast enough to meet the 360 standards for data transfer. Up to 32gb can be used on a single stick, so it's a bit more picky where that's concerned but most branded sticks work well.
It's just a stick that I got free from somewhere, so not anything fantastic, about 4mb I think.
it's got some photos and a few tunes on it, so I guess I'd better transfer those before I do anything else with it.
As to what I did wrong, I dunno, I just plugged it into one of the 3 ports in the back and hoped it would see it.
5 ports? that's more than my PC
So using a folder for [pictures] and one for [music] etc etc is the best way to do it. Bear in mind the 360 will only see the files if you are selecting them from the relevant menu, ie. it wont show you your MP3's if you are browsing your pictures and vice versa.
If you use Windows Media Center on your PC you can set up a wireless network quite easily to browse all content on your PC HDD from the comfort of your 360 which is pretty cool. Saves messing about with USB sticks too.
Sounds fine. So long as they are MP3 they should play. Is your USB device being recognised by the 360? What does it say when you try to browse it?
