No boost it has to be said last night across the board, aside from a superb rating for Winterwatch 1963 at 17:30.
Most programmes were up slightly, everything on BBC1 from 6-9.40 was up. Breakfast, Saturday Kitchen, The Good Cook and Football Focus were up a lot too. ITV was up from 7-10.45.
First poor rating of the series for CBB, although still on a par with the equivalent episode last January. A combination of it being a Saturday and the previous episode being a little uneventful I think. When the episode began with Marcus highlighting how harmonious the house was I naturally feared the worst.
Surprised there's not a slight noticeable uplift, but then when the options across the board are not exactly stellar it's no wonder. Maybe these things only happen when the shows on offer (soaps etc) have lots of casual viewers who drift in and out. Plus Saturday is an odd one and probably the day most likely to "defy" uplift due to weather I'm guessing.
With that in mind (and the fact the snow is worse today, I think), tonight should see some big, if not mega, uplift I'd have thought. Hope so, just for that brief Monday morning excitement

Does the rating posted include +1? If so, what did it get without?
Saturday 19th January 2013 BBC One
17:30 - Animal Antics: 2.71m (12.9%)
18:00 - Richard Hammond's Secret Service: 2.14m (9.5%)
20:00 - Lottery: In It to Win It: 5.43m (22.3%)
* peak: 6.14m (24.9%) at 20:35
I know the show has it critics but In It to Win It still delivers an audience nearly eleven years on. Interesting that the peak was when the contestants were answering their final question and not the Lotto draw itself.
As for early evenings on BBC One. They might as well axe both shows now and have repeats of Pointless Celebrities.
It had 1.67m including +1. Still not great, 300k lower than the previous series low.
Looking at the multichannels - Con-Air on BBC Three at 21:45 had 698k (3.6%), whilst yet another showing of The Expendables did very well for 5USA at 21:00, bringing in 450k (2.0%).
The show, including +1, began with 1.63m (7.0%) so for whatever reason, the viewers were not there.

21:45 - The Jonathan Ross Show: 2.82m (12.9%)
Some decent peaks there but that suggests low "troughs" and not many people willing to sit through a whole programme.
Great ratings for Winterwatch 1963 and Dad's Army 1973.
Secret Service must be Tim Brooke-Taylor's favourite programme at the moment as it makes Animal Antic's performance look quite decent. AA also matched Jonathan Ross in audience share.
Casualty will timeshift to over 6m viewers and if any new drama was doing that we'd have it down as a solid hit. And yet that overnight figure still feels rubbish, especially giving the snow.
And Splash loses its place as Saturday's top-rated programme (excluding +1 at least) so there is some hope for the Great British Public. It's still going to get recommission, though. (Although that might be quite fun - to see who ITV manage to sign up next year, where the zelebrity ends up their big name and bottom-of-the-barrel scraping becomes an art form.)

BBC1 morning had a boost: Breakfast 1.72m (up 27%); Saturday Kitchen 2.80m (up 25%); Good Cook 2.3m (up 18%); Football Focus 2.12m (up 36%)
Maybe Saturday Kitchen will replace Hammond next week.;)
The Six Nations starts in a fortnight. This gives BBC1 an excuse to quitely drop the last 2 episodes of Hammond until they can find an out-of-the-way afternoon slot for it.
Does anyone think tonight will see a PROPER "snow boost" then? Mostly seems to be in the South East today but I imagine that represents a pretty big portion of TV viewers?
Wonder if Dancing on Ice will see a step-up what with it being winter connected and all that
I'd expect most things to rise a bit tonight, and if DOI doesn't there's a problem (skate-off excluded)
Comments
Abject humiliation for BBC1 to be soundly beaten by a documentary about the weather 50 years ago and a 40 year old Dads Army repeat.
Pull Hammond from the schedules, Danny.
Do those ITV figures include +1 or not?
The National Lottery: In It to Win It was Saturday night's most watched programme with 5.43m (22.3%), followed by Casualty (5.24m 21.5%)

Britain's Brightest was also up on last week with 4.59m (19.3%). Last week it averaged 4.08m (18.1%)
Most programmes were up slightly, everything on BBC1 from 6-9.40 was up. Breakfast, Saturday Kitchen, The Good Cook and Football Focus were up a lot too. ITV was up from 7-10.45.
Britain's Brightest was the only show to see a significant boost. God knows why as it's boooooooooooooring!
With that in mind (and the fact the snow is worse today, I think), tonight should see some big, if not mega, uplift I'd have thought. Hope so, just for that brief Monday morning excitement

I read somewhere that the Matt King/Steve Edge comedy Starlings on Sky, was a copy of Packed to the Rafters.

Richard Hammond's Secret Service is appalling. It makes Animal Antics look good and that takes some doing!
Some decent peaks there but that suggests low "troughs" and not many people willing to sit through a whole programme.

Splash is 5.36m (inc +1) so ahead of Casualty but still behind In It To Win It.
According to Jenny Cummings. Splash averaged 5.4m. Looks like she is using the +1 figure, would make it level with In It to Win It.
The Six Nations starts in a fortnight. This gives BBC1 an excuse to quitely drop the last 2 episodes of Hammond until they can find an out-of-the-way afternoon slot for it.
You've Been Framed - 4.48m (18.8%)
Splash! - 5.36m (22.3%)
Take Me Out - 4.63m (19%)
The Jonathan Ross Show - 3.04m (13.9%)

And In It To Win It would have nosed back in front if you included BBC1+1, if it existed.
It doesn't, so you can only compare like with like -so excluding +1.
This really isn't rocket science!
