Nah the media wouldn't report it anyway even if it was10 ft deep, unless it happens on their doorstep in the south of England they don't care.
Yup, it might work to our advantage, however, as the London-fixated media aren't interested and so don't hype it up and cause panic-buying.
It's not even as if it's a massive amount of snow they're having, though. I can remember Glasgow getting one foot of snow in one night at the end of March some years back.
Simply put - because you are in the West. This snow event (for Scotland) has been an Eastern feature. All the snow has come from a system that tracked up the East coast and gave a 48 hour period of snow for the East.
Kirkmichael is around 70 miles to your NE and it has 18 inches.
Glasgow has it's own little micro-climate, or so I heard on a documentary once. Due to where it is situated.
When I was at work this morning I found that one end of the city I work in was just a bit icy, and the other end of the city had quite a deep covering of snow, only 2/3 miles apart. Weird that.

It's Baltic oot there tonight, anyway!
Don't say that. Rather just have the snow
I completely expect you're right with this. Lulling us into a false sense of security most likely!
You'll be wanting palm trees next - is it real or an urban myth that palm trees grow near Ayr??
There are many palm trees in lots of places in Scotland :-).
Numpty
